Comments (23)While I have seen a light sprinkle of decent photos over a fair length of time, they are, as a rule, the exception. I have never seen an offering of photos that I would consider good and complete so there is no benchmark example to point you toward. If you're asking because you're looking for help and want to create a thread, I would just do the best you can and not worry about it. We can always ask for what's missing. Without digging too deeply, the recent thread linked below is a pretty decent example of photo-taking. It has a panned sequence of the house, but the third photo is missing (because it was too embarrassing of a mess to show publicly!) The photos were taken at a distance (which is fine) but it necessitated closer in shots be taken of the same area in order that detail can be seen. Because the drive is long, the OP included a sequence of photos that nicely convey the entry experience. If you include in your photos some extra space at each end of the house, avoid dark shadows and be in focus, you'll be doing as well as anyone. Comments (4)Thats sad I grew up in NYC where gardening usually happens in a window box but was lucky enough to have had a community garden that had childrens plots. The older people with some knowledge shared it (I guess free market economy mentality) wasn't a community value in the early 60's. Currently I belong to a community garden where we all pitch in with gee what is that or I'll show you how to prune when it's the right time time. We have had to hire professionals for somethings but gardening with and for the community was I thought the idea of a community garden. For months we smelled the smoke from the World Trade Center I would have hated to think someone might have said If you pay me I'll tell you where the exits are ah well! as i said it's sad...See MoreNiMH batteries & cordless phone
Comments (4)The manual actually says, now that I read it (DUH), to keep the phone on the charger when not in use. I was always leaving it off the charger. Okay, now this is really weird... after I posted my dilemma, I decided to put the old batteries back in the phone to see if I could still use it for more than a couple seconds, maybe a minute here & there until I got new batteries. I left it on the charger before using it today, just in case. I just ended an approximately hour-long phone call with my sister!!! And when I hung up it still showed a full charge!!! So now I don't understand what was going wrong with it to begin with; why the phone would tell me there was no charge when not even a minute before I picked it up it was fully charged. ???...See MoreCell phone as Home phone
Comments (34)I guess it all depends on how much you call from home versus away from home or on the road. We use pre-paid cellular. The new phones were free after rebate and my wife and I each spend about $5-$7/month for the STI Mobile/Sprint service. We only make quick 1-2 minute calls for necessary reasons and it works fine anywhere in the country that Sprint covers. Voice mail and text messaging are turned off on both cellular phones. Other cellular providers are now joining the pre-paid game with good deals. We are still stuck with the old telephone company for home and home office lines. I must have the reliability and quality of a landline for my business. I do pay too much for long distance, toll-free, and local service for my business compared to the low rates available today. Bills are typically $35-$50/month for relatively low volume usage. The last time I switched was from MCI to Ameritech(i.e. SBC/AT&T/who knows?) It was a pain to switch, but the new lower rates were good for a year before they went up again. Our home phone line just went up to $22/month for local phone service. It started at $18 several years ago. Pre-paid long distance service is $.025/minute using cards from companies like Cheap Phonecards. The latest cards don't require you to enter the pin every time from home and you can program the 800 access number into speed dial. The long distance cards are great from hotels too. We are seriously considering the switch to broadband phone service, but our local numbers are not yet portable for Vonage or the others. We are just outside of their large markets. Broadband cable internet is $30/month and speed is around 300K or 10 times faster than dial-up. It is fast enough for our needs. The total bill (excluding my business) is around $67/month for all phones and broadband for my wife and I.
