Comments (18)They say every once in awhile you will hit a hot padron, I fixed some Tapas awhile back and every single one of them was hot, not jalapeno hot, but hot. I have had some too that were jalapeno hot. I have never had a SWEET padron, they all taste like a chile pepper vs a sweet pepper. Funny thing too, I have 2 padron plants, one the fruit looks like yours, the other one, they look like a cross between a poblano and a padron. THey are from the same seed source, and the fatter one tastes exactly like a padron, the smaller fruit looks more padron-ish, but if left on they get big and look more poblano-ish. very strange. Comments (11)Johnny, I never looked into it to see why its bad, thats why i didn't go into details. I just know one year i thought i would control the weeds and make things look pretty so i bought a truck load of red and a truck load of black. The black was dyed also, stuff did fine with the black. With the red stuff grew slow, stayed smaller, and produced half as much as normal. It was quite obvious there was something in the red my peppers didn't like. So that was the end of it, never looked into it, i just quit using it. So if you find any answers let me know also. Your mystery pepper, how hot is it? add it to my list.. what was it supposed to be? Kinda looks like the carmel bhuts i grew this year....See MoreAny idea what pepper variety this is?

Another friend directed me to this variety on Dave's Garden, which looks to be the one: Chili Pepper, Hot Pepper, Chile Petin, Chile Piquin (Pequin), Bird Pepper Capsicum annuum var. glabriusculum Apparently Garden Web fears the competition from Dave's Garden and blocks any mention. Sad....See Morebmelz
