It's this one, Araujia sericifera, aka Cruel Vine, plus several other names. After reading about this plant, I would not plant it in my yard. It seems to be the kudzu of California, smothering anything in its path. Here is a link that might be useful: Araujia sericifera

Carol It does look like that except I don't ever see berries on this which kind of made me think it might be something else. This year I'll pay even closer attention to it but all I've ever seen is the green vine part. Thanks so much for responding.

I don't know how experienced you are at ragweed control, so I'll throw in my 2 cents. Work religiously to get them all removed, killed, pulled, hoed, smothered, etc. while they are small and never, ever let them get big enough to go to seed. They are common in disturbed soil, and you'll find you generally have to fight them for years, but it is a battle you can win. It took me a good 5 to 7 years to get all the common ragweed out of my garden, and there's no guarantee it won't return someday, so I keep my eyes open and if I see so much as one tiny plant sprouting, I get rid of it.

The vine is a Passionvine. There are many varieties but this one may be a native species called "Maypops" or passiflora incarnata. The flower appears to be white but if it is actually a pale purple then you have a nice vine that is also a host plant for both the Gulf Fritillary butterfly and the Zebra Longwing. I see you are in Arkansas, so I don't know if you get these two butterflies there but the eggs are laid usually on the newest most tender growth. Frits lay individual eggs that are tiny and yellow while Zebra Longwings lay them in clusters. There may be other butterflies in those families that will use it in your area. The vine can be invasive in that it grows on a runner underground and will often come up about 3-5 ft from where the original plant is and then continue to move out from there. It does die back in the winter and will come back up next spring in another spot, again away from where it was originally planted. The fruit is edible but not desirable to eat as other passion fruit are. I love the vine, I have a hard time finding it out in the wild here. It used to be found all over the place. There are many hybrids that will look similiar but have 5 lobed leaves instead of 3. I would keep it and watch for butterflies. BTW, I am in Florida.
