Thanks for all the input everyone. clubcracker-Yes! That fine line between lovely warmth and cheese is what I'm trying to find! It is elusive! :) As for painting against a white background, I actually NEED to see the colors compared to each other. As I said, I painted the living room with #1, so I now know what that looks like en masse, and I know the gold needs to come down a notch or two, so I need to see the new colors in relation to it. auntjen - I have been amazed at the difference in these colors as they dry. I mix them up and they look all look the same in the bowl, and I think "this is going to be no different at all", but when it dries on the wall it is different with just the tiniest dollop more or less of the gold color. It's amazing. I am mixing my own, by the way, because the #1 color is as close as I can find to the color in my head. I also have a sample of a taupe which doesn't seem to have any undertones at all, so I'm using that to neutralize the gold. chispa, the Grant Beige chip looks kind of greenish in my house. I have a weirdly yellow-green couch which rules out many of the greens, unfortunately. That's why I'm leaning to gold. I have painted bigger swatches of #2 and #3 (though I've run out of #2 now) and I'll watch them in the different lights of the day and night. So far I like them both and I'm starting to think I could be happy with either, but I will definitely give them some more thought. Thanks for the help!

I just wrote a long post that got eaten before I submitted, so I'll be brief. ctycdm, that is a gorgeous kitchen! magsnj, your pantry and space is so charming - the blue cabs are adorable. We don't have a pantry space in his home (1957 house), so we're having to be creative with our cabinet layout. I think we're going to do a modified version of open shelves. I really do love the look, and I think functionality wise they work for us (I too get sick of opening and closing cabinet doors), but we're lacking cabinet space in this kitchen. It's just not that big. So, we're contemplating a smaller cabinet with a shelf underneath for storing everyday items like plates, cups and wine glasses. rgreen, I'm a CPA and I have a degree in Economics. I recognize some of the words you've used but how you've used them isn't quite right. As an example, what you describe as "price point" is called equilibrium or market equilibrium. It's the intersection of supply and demand curves, where the quantity of goods supplied equals the quality of goods demanded. It says nothing about profit or revenue maximization. Profit (and revenue) can be higher at points other than the equilibrium point. Let's make you Emperor for a moment. You own the company that makes the product for which costs have increased and need the profits to pay for the spending of your Empire. You can increase the price, decrease the quantity in the package, or do nothing. Which do you choose to do? Now, you're in charge of the marketing department for the Emperor's company. You've done market research and it tells you that your customers don't want to be informed of price increases or quantity decreases (this is true). The Emperor has told you either price or quantity will change. What do you do about communicating it or not?

I have some of the Picardie tumblers in different sizes that ILoveRed linked to. If you go on the Duralex website, you can see all the different sizes they come in. You can buy them on Amazon as well. I also have the similar style from Ikea called "Pokal" - incredibly inexpensive. They stack too which is an important feature IMO. Ikea Pokal Series Glasses For wine glasses, I used to have beautiful stemware, but the stems were delicate and easily broken. I bought instead stemware by Libbey at Bed Bath & Beyond.
