Yet another sedum soil soliloquy - live tree stump planter...

A bit of an odd situation. Also everything I've found calls for some ingredients that are hard to source.

Sedum in a tree stump planter. The tree is still alive, some water gets pumped up from below. There is a slope towards three drainage holes on one side.

My plan is to put crushed marble on the bottom, with the hope that anything coming up from below would not contact the soil and just drain out when it got to a critical mass.

For the soil, I'm hoping to use some combination of crushed marble, vermiculite, and Miracle-Gro Cactus Palm and Citrus Soil. I've also seen recipes that call for play sand and/or course sand and/or perlite, which are easy to source.

I'd really appreciate any suggestions as to which of those ingredients to include in what ratios. And also if there is some other ingredient that is so important it's worth spending the time to find.

The sedum is a "sedum tile" from etera.

Hoping to avoid again digging out soil that smells like hell's lavatories,

-Danny

Picture of first try, using topsoil. D'oh.
