Aphids on my Pinkeye Purple Hull Peas

Cuke beetles, squash bugs, & birds in the blue berry bushes here. Squirrels are next eyeing my soon to ripen peaches.

Grasshoppers. They seem to really like the La Ratte potato leaves. Now the leaves are skeletons. I sacrificed the favas to them. The last 2 weeks were dry, fortunately, so I could put out the NOLO bait and I have seen some grasshoppers showing signs of sickness. All I can do is hope that the plants recover and the grasshoppers begin to die off.

Rabbits, chipmunks, and now finches. I miss my dog.

the skunk was probably digging for grubs. I have heard that way to solve your ground hog or raccoon problem is a quick dose of lead poisoning.

Groundhogs and cucumber beetles so far this year. I had to go to really great lengths for the $*%#*&@ groundhogs.

Squash bugs, cabbage loopers, and squash vine borers....

Cabbage worms on my kohlrabi. Excess rain has got a good chunk of my garden waterlogged (definitely need to raise the beds higher this year) and wind has stuff flopped over everywhere.

I've got all of the usual cast of characters in the garden pretty much under control except for an unnerving population of black widow spiders, of all things.

They've always been here; I see them in the garage all the time, I inspect the porch and patio furniture frequently, and have always found some in the garden. But this year is extra bad. I stopped letting my little neighbor girls come over to "help" me in the gardens, as of last weekend.

Friggin birds. They steal so much stuff! Lately they've made off with all sorts of peppers. Their favorite thing is to pick the leaves off of my pepper plants, twirl them for a few seconds and then drop them. They've also shredded many eggplant leaves and dug up all of my watering basins. Thanks birds!

For me it would be deer... they seem to think my yard is their dining room. They come back every night, and anything not fenced off is eventually eaten. All of DW's hosta is eaten down to bare stems, same for every violet on the property. Our tulips never even get to bloom any more, before they are mowed down. Any new trees or bushes are goners unless I fence them - and fence them high, since they will lean on the fence & eat as far as their neck can reach.

The neighbors 5 houses down have a beautiful garden, several kinds of hosta, no fences... and the deer never touch it. They seem content to mow everything in my yard to the ground. I'm not fond of venison, or of hunting... but I might make an exception in their case. >:-(
