Name That Plant!

Lambsquarters? (goosefoot)?

So I came across what I know is lamb's quarters.

But i also saw something that looked like Lamb's quarters. However, it had a reddish hue on the bottom of the leaves. I read that lamb's quarters can have this initially. I would like some confirmation. There was also a very slight variation in the vein pattern & the base of the leaf.

Here's lamb's quarters on the left & "Specimen X" on the right

Again lamb's quarters on the left & the this other plant on the right. This is the bottom of the leaves

Here's the actual plant in question:

Here are the flowers starting to form. (I thought lamb's quarters had a long central stalk of flowers)

Some more darker red bottoms from "Specimen X":

And here is what I was certain was lambsquarters. The veins have a slight variation from "Specimen X"...

Chandra, Your garden looks magnificent! If the weed ID you're seeking is for the last two photos shown, I believe it is lambsquarters, aka goosefoot aka Chenopodium album. It is a rampant grower and reseeds very vigorously, so yank it out before it sets seeds! (Lambsquarters is one of the wild greens that some people like to eat.) Dawn

Well, I ended up taking it to the extension office and they said it was kochia. It's an annual, so I'm not sure if I should bother to pull them up to prevent seeding. The extension office said they already dropped many seeds, so maybe I'll just let them die over the winter.

Goosefoot is an English common name for species in the genus Chenopodium. Lambsquarters is an English common name for the species Chenopodium album.So your plant, pr biskit, is a goosefoot, but it is not a lambsquarters, another words, it is Chenopodium, but it is not Chenopodium album. Note that English common names are in use only in the English speaking countries, and can vary even there. If you want to be always understood correctly all around the world use scientific names.

but do you guys agree the plant (& leaf) that i ID'd to be lamsqaurters is actually just that

The leaf on the left does look like Chenopodium - Lamb's quarters, however it is difficult to say 100% without seeing the entire plant. One would expect to see the telltale white almost woolly look of the growing tip.

yea i think you can sort of see that in the last pic (which was lamb's quarters.)
