Hungarian Wax Pepper

Hello, I am new to gardening but greatly enjoy it. I have a Hungarian wax pepper plant that just started to produce peppers. They started growing straight up but as it became larger it's now drooping down.
I was wondering at what size should I pull the pepper? The plant is only 6-8 inches tall and the pepper is pushing about 2/3 inches.
Can I wait until it turns red (if these do)? Or would removing the pepper be better for overall growth so I get more peppers later in the season?
