Shared kids bedroom paint help

Hi
I'm looking for bedroom paint color suggestions for a shared boy/girl
smallish bedroom. I am making curtains for the room out of the fabric
that matches their bed sheets from Garnet Hill (whose pictures are above ). Any thoughts or suggestions are very much appreciated!! I'm
terrible with color and have always just had white walls in the past.

Turquoise is the obvious choice since it's a color represented in both sets of bedding. It could be a little strong though for a smallish room. What you may want to do it use a tone that is much lighter but from the same family, something like Belize Blue by SW.

I haven't used these but I have seen/read about two of them. A designer in "House Beautiful" said she thought Rainforest Dew was the most underrated color. It has a glow to it. Nantucket Breeze was a recent Pottery Barn selection and I'm sure you can find the google image of their office painted in that color. It looked nice. Potpourri green might be a nice choice for a child's room. That is a fall/winter Pottery Barn kids selection. It's a clear, bright green. You probably know this but the most important thing is to sample the colors in your light. Differences in lighting make all the difference in how paint looks. Many people rave about Camoflauge but in my lighting it looked like mud. Good luck!

Upstairs kids bedroom over master bedroom...big mistake?

When we build, there won't be any rooms above our Master Bedroom. At the moment, my almost 13-year-old son and 3-year-old's room is over our Master Bedroom. My 8- and 10-year old's room is above the living room. Their bathroom is between their two rooms. When sleeping in, I can hear every single movement that my 13-year-old and 3-year do. There was carpet in the room which helps with the noise, but I hate carpet and put in wood flooring. If he drops something, I hear it. When he goes to the bathroom, I hear it. When all 4 of them are in one room, I can hear them. Just as this, I can hear every movement in my other boys' room when in the living room. They are very rambunctious and like to jump around. Another problem I have is that the pipe from their toilet/tub goes down the wall which is located between our living and kitchen/dining room. When they flush the toilet or let out their bath water, the pipe rattles in that wall. I know every time they use the bathroom and so do my guests. Most times it is rather embarrassing.

I think actual kid patterned bedding isn’t necessary at all. You have a great start and the choices we see will not be outgrown quickly. Now you need to just add some of your child’s favourite colours into the room in other ways. Turn down the comforter and add some coloured or patterned pillow cases and sheets. A couple cute toss cushions and a cozy throw to curl up with during a nap or reading. You could add a coloured trim to edges of drapery panels. Add some artwork on other walls. I am sure the areas of the room not pictured have toys and books or other furniture that make it obvious that this is a child’s room too. Good luck and I am sure it will be closer to what you had envisioned very soon.

The turquoise looks great!

When my three big kids were little they shared a big attic room. Dtr was six and chose pepto bismol pink walls with raspberry pink woodwork, white curtains on her two windows. Five yo son chose sky blue walls with Royal blue woodwork, and three yo son chose Kelly green woodwork with lighter green walls. Their three windows had green, blue and white striped curtains.

Sounds chaotic, but it was adorable. Their friends all wanted multi-colored rooms. I guess what I'm saying is they can be individuals in a shared space. Choose your paint(s) wisely!

Ask the kids and let them negotiate décor ... it's a learning experience.

I am not of the "ask the kids" school of design but it is an option. I would go light aqua/turquoise.
