My first thought was 'Mme Norbert Levasseur', but I think that's because I was looking at a photo of 'MNL' shortly before I read your post! Not sure the leaves/buds are right, though. There are a number of roses with similar-looking flowers. If it's convenient, could you post more detailed photos of the foliage and buds? Even if you never figure out its original ID, it looks like a lovely and tough rose, well worth saving. Virginia

Sorry but nobody is going to be able to reliably name a specific double pink rose cultivar using only a picture of one cut flower, without any pertinent background information. But do try the Garden Web rose identification forum - being sure to note the directions in the FAQ section of that forum about what to post for best possible results. Also which cultivar it is won't really have that much to do with how to correct the yellowing. If the lowest leaves are yellowing entirely and starting to drop off most of the time with plants in general that will be a watering issue - either too much or not enough. Again more background about the situation - and more pictures - are needed.

I'm sorry this picture is so bad...on my computer it's perfectly clear! Jeri...in person the flowers were really large...5-6 inches. I'm not sure if Don Juan flowers get that big. But, it would be a rose I would expect to see in a public space like that one. I saw 'Linda Campbell' in full and glorious bloom at the San Jose Heritage and it was a sight to behold!! If I could find a place for it in my garden, I would...and I don't normally care for red roses as much! roseseek....I didn't even notice the Dr Huey blooming in the pic! So that means it's definitely a grafted rose. It looked to me almost like an Austin when I saw it...but that was just from the car. Hopefully, I will go back to Sacramento when the cemetery has it's rose sale, and I'll take a better look at the rose in Old Town. Thank you both for giving me your opinions!

Hi Susan. I think the odds are that you have 'Dr. W. van Fleet', a Wichurana climber bred here in the USA and introduced in 1910. I can see that the foliage is quite glossy, and the bloom style/color is right for this rose, but I don't see its thorns: there are likely a modest number of hooked thorns, probably brown in color, yes? I expect the blooms have a somewhat delicate fragrance reminiscent of green Apples, is that right? Your description suggests that it flowers only once, in early Summer, which would make this 'Dr. W. van Fleet'. If it has the ability to rebloom throughout the growing season, then it would be the sport of 'Dr. W. van Fleet' called 'New Dawn', which is far more popular because of its ability to bloom more than once a year.
