I actually had that exact rug in my living room of my old house for 7 years. I loved the rich colors and found that it wore very well. Currently, we are building a new home and the rug is still with me in a different (& much more used space) and it still looks great. It is thick and comfortable under foot and vacuums up well. The first picture is from my old living room when the rug was less than 3 years old and the second from our condo where we are now. For what is worth, I paid $399 for a 5x8 size in 2001 so I think the price is good as long as it is in good shape.

Well, something's got to give. Either both girls get a recliner and parents are SOL, or you choose a layout that is attractive and sensible for the room as a whole and no one reclines lol. Or only those with a medical need recline ;) The first pic you posted in the last batch, with the two white sofas and two grey chairs, would work really well in your room. One of the chairs could recline. If you wanted you could use a sectional in place of the two white sofas. That's similar to what I was suggesting above. If you have an ottoman to put your feet up on would your younger daughter feel that was fair? Or would it make your husband more comfortable with saying, "life's not fair kid"? NOT giving parenting advice here.

Whats the size of your room? I typically like doing a bigger rug than a smaller rug so it helps frame in the furniture space of your living room. If you have enough room to pull out your rug slightly and have the front feet of your sectional touching, it would defiantly give that nice framed in look that I'm talking about. You want your rug far out enough to ware all parts of your living room furniture (not including your media console, if you have one in the space) touching the rug. See below for examples. Some people find it a huge faux pas to put a TV over a fireplace. Some people swear they can't be comfortable for viewing over a fireplace, your neck will explode from the agony, the TV itself will explode into a ball of flames from the heat from the FP, and people entering your home for the first time will shriek in horror at your set up ..... None of that has been my actual, real life experience - currently have a TV over a fireplace in 2 homes. They both work just fine. Use a tilt-able mount as having them angled downward is a must (or use the adjustable mount so that you can pull it down while watching and then push it back up when done.) No one has died, no one has shrieked in horror, still using the same TV for 8 years in one house (so, so much for the "the TV will never last!" line), and I like the way it looks. If that makes me a lowbrow lowlife, so be it.
