Is makeup for the Woman, a Man(or S/O), Image...or ALL?!
Comments (37)I wear makeup for myself. It is all about putting your best foot forward. I feel the same way about not wearing frumpy clothes, LOL. It makes me feel better about me, and I think when you feel good about yourself, it shows in your overall attitude. I wear light makeup - as someone said, to enhance. I do don't eye shadow colors - taupe or charcoal to shade and a pale shade as the base. Soft eye pencil. I use a bb creme or mineral foundation very lightly and a bit of concealer under my eyes and anywhere else needed. Not a powder person. A little natural looking blush and mascara and I am good to go. I do however use a bright color on my lips - it looks best on me. A bright, deep pink is my best color. However, I use a sheer version - a lipstain or a gloss, semi lipstick, etc. never a full coverage lipstick. For going out or something dressy, I just deepen my eye makeup a bit and also the lips. tina...See MoreHeading To Florida and I Am Dead-Fish White :~(
Comments (36)Another Jergens self-tanner here! Love that stuff! It never looks fake, you can't mess it up, it is moisturizing, and it is cheap. I start using it early in the spring just on my face, neck (for the V and scoop necks) , shoulders, arms (for those early short-sleeves). Next I will do the feet and calves when I bring out my first capris and flip-flops and sandles, gradually working up the thighs. It is so "natural" looking that it reminds you of when you start changing your seasonal wardrobe to spring clothings and get a subtle real tan If you get in a hurry and happen to get a small streak, just scrub the streak with a wash cloth a little harder. It doesn't stain my clothing or bedding. A little of it will show up on your wash cloth when bathing, but it doesn't all come off - just reapply every day or every other day . I apply after drying from the shower, let it soak for a few minutes while doing face, then start dressing. I don't bother putting in on the main trunk of my body unless I plan on wearing a bathing suit. I don't bare a lot of skin :). I also have a Mary Kaye self-tanner that I can use later in the summer - it is a little darker than the Jergens - but not the ugly "fake-dark". It's is kind of "coming back from vacation" tan. Comments (25)Kim, I remember roasting my body in baby oil too. Weren't we young and foolish then? Amy, Gardening under an umbrella is the best! It keeps you so much cooler. I bet you'll love it. George, I love everything about that photo of you, including the roses! I think hats such as yours are still available. There was a guy who did yard work in town for many years, sort of like a yard and garden handyman, that we used to see while driving through town and he always wore a big, big Mexican sombrero that shaded practically his whole body while he worked. I always thought that we all need big woven straw hats like that. It was so large it was almost like he was wearing a sun umbrella. The heat yesterday was just beastly and I stayed out in it too long helping Chris work on his house. Today I mostly stayed indoors in the kitchen and it didn't seem as hot as it had on previous days, but that might have been because I was doing more prep work that involved chopping veggies and not as much canning that involved making the kitchen hot and steamy. I'm ready for a cool, rainy day but the odds for us having one of those are almost slim to none down here. I think we have a 20% chance of rain next Tuesday or Wednesday, and that's not much of a chance....See Moreout of context - plastic reduction
Comments (47)In my town plastic bags have been banned from all grocery and retail stores for two years, so I am accustomed to carrying my own bags into all stores. Whole Foods in town had paper and reusable bags for sale prior to the town-wide change, yay. We have single-stream curbside recycling and are diligent in both what we purchase and in how we dispose of it. Our town provides large compost bins for purchase, which we use to dispose of appropriate garbage to prevent it from going into our in-sink disposal. We have excellent municipal water, luckily, and drink that from the tap or in a reusable water bottle. When I taught, I did a unit in a nutrition class on "Water: The Forgotten Nutrient", whereby I would have the students research various types of bottled water and present their findings to the class, including a taste test for classmates. The value of that lesson was their conclusions about both the costs of bottled water and the environmental impact of disposal of the bottles. Using videos drove home the point. Here's one: Keep plastics out of the ocean Hmm, time to try some yogurt making and do some more research on microfiber cloths. And I thought using microfiber cloths vs. paper towels was good for the environment. We use cloth napkins vs. paper but I sometimes wonder about the laundering resources they require. There is so much to think about when making choices. Localeater, thank you for making us all think about our choices....See More- 11 years ago
