Early morning light in the jungle ...

I love a thick colorful 'jungle' look, but can't always have it in this climate so we do the best we can with what we've got, right? However, as we all know this spring was an exception and here's some of the results ...

"Who is that swimming in my pool?"

A toad discovered the saucer of damp clay I leave out for the mud dabbers. Although there are bowls of water for the turtles to take a dip in sometimes they use it too, but this morning the toad beat Ms. Turtle to it.

Hope everyone has a nice day! Looks like there might be a little more rain next week ... :-)

I admire your ability to have such varied plants in your garden so beautifully arranged. Your yard art is always complimentary and non-chaotic. I simply do not have that creativity, so for me your photos are delightful and inspiring.

Beautiful! Your garden looks very happy.

Rain has already begun here. Probably already had 2-3" since 5 a.m. Heavy rain, and we just found a roof leak. Here's hoping we don't flood, too.

Emergency alert just sounded on my phone, flash flood warning. Gonna be a rough few days. :(

Absolutely beautiful! The 'jungle' look I also love is even more impossible in the semi-arid area of Texas I live in. Most years I am happy if I am able to keep a couple exotic plants alive. We had lots of rain last month, but not the excess that so much of Texas had, but still the wettest May in recorded history. Not sure if that's for the whole state of Texas, or just this area. But it has been wonderful!

Mostly I just 'lurk' here, rarely post anything. But I really enjoy your pictures, Roselee, thank you so much for posting them! I hope you never stop!

I would think the eastern exposure will be best. Despite what many folks will tell you, camellias can tolerate some sun, some varities more than others. With Chansonette I think it would perform better with more light and you should get more flowers that if planted in the full shade with no direct light.

Much better! lol. Grasses look amazing with the morning sun as a backdrop(or any sun for that matter). I take a ridiculous amount of pictures. I hope you don't mind me showing some in this thread: This is Flamingo Grass with a bit of late morning sun: Flame Grass with some afternoon sun: Dwarf Fountain Grass in late afternoon sun: Feather Reed at sundown: Fountain Grass in late afternoon: Just a few reasons why I love grasses so much. Kathy,My Maggie don't get a chance to grow big.It would make a very huge bush if it would be left alone.The begining of spring it got to about 5 ft wide,not very tall,maybe 3 ft,and was a nice bushy looking bush,and had more canes popping out on it and loaded with gorgeous bloom,but it came a storm and washed the spray off it I had sprayed it with,and the deer hit it before I could spray it again,and when they finished with it,was not a leave on it,no blooms or a bud.They seem to like this one best,Guess maybe because of the strong fragrance it has.Mine dont like heat either,as when it get hot and humid any roses on it is bad droopy and wilted bad.Right now,it has a lot of dead canes on it.The canes are very thick and sturdy,like the 4th of July canes.Hope I answered your questions :) Jean

Lookin' good, Ragna! Everything has filled out so nicely! Hurt my back this morning first thing, so I'm sitting with a heating pad trying to find things on the internet to look at. And found you! The TV guy is also here trying to get us going again. Hope we get rain tonite!

Marti, that's a summer phlox just starting to open in the center of the 6th photo.

Did anyone notice the little drama going on in the 3rd photo? As is so often the case I didn't until I saw the picture.

Laughing! Yes, Marti -- that's reason enough because I love to take pictures of garden 'critters', but the joke is on me because I was so concentrating on the flowers that I hadn't even noticed the spider catching bugs until I was ready to post picture!!!!!
