Bathroom Vanity Remodel
Comments (1)Did you check ebay for vanities? I've bought two different vanities off ebay and have been very pleased. They seem to be cheaper than buying from the stores, even with shipping, and sometimes depending on the company shipping can be free. I bought a 60" Kraftmaid vanity with quiet close drawers for 499.00 (shipping included). I noticed that one of the Kraftmaid sellers on ebay has vanities that are 45" X 21" X 34.5", they also sell premade granite tops to fit them, that are fairly reasonable. Some different 45" vanities found on ebay. . . Comments (16)yaya, that makes more sense - I was trying to picture what you were saying and didn't get it :-) Using side lights was a suggestion made on the bath forum and I think I like that idea. Then I could place the lights a little lower and not have them so crowded. If I do this, I'd have enough room for rectangular tile mirrors instead. Do you think those would look better than the ovals? If I use oval mirrors, should I use rectangular sinks? annz - I LOVE the Craftsman style bathroom and put that in my dream home folder. For this house, we've already put so much money into remodeling and have done everything custom in other rooms, but we're planning to move in a few years. I'm trying to stick with my plan of using nice materials but at the same time keeping it basic and low cost (it's hard for me to do!). I also want it done by June and if we start talking custom framing around the mirrors DH will take forever to finish! andrea - if we were staying here longer than a few more years I would have done so much more to change the footprint of this house, including the placement of windows! We just redid all of the stucco and outside trim, so I know changing the window placement isn't an option for us. It is limiting though....See MoreBathroom vanity tops and MDF bathroom vanities.
Comments (5)Millworkman, I think I must have read somewhere that you shouldn't use granite on MDF cabinets Patricia Colwell Consulting, the vanity does not come with a top. It was just shown with a top. The Hayneedle website description said it was just the cabinet and it is just the cabinet (arrived this past Friday). Siamesey, I hear ya but since I spent a ton of money converting the tub to shower, I have to save where I can. Unfortunately, when you combine the needs of my mother (the main user of this bathroom), the style that I would like, along with the need to work around the plumbing location, I actually don't have a lot of choices. It's been really hard to combine the first two of those and find a vanity with drawers on the left hand side (the plumbing dictate). I looked at custom made and even semi custom made and no, I can't do that. Even though the vanity is made of MDF and is RTA, to me it has better quality than some of low end all wood vanities that I've seen. Also, most of the cabinets I've looked at still seem to have MDF in them somewhere, especially white cabinets which is what I wanted for this bathroom....See Morewhat size vanity bathroom mirrors above 72”vanity
Comments (1)I would have a mirror madeso it goes all the way to the ceiling, mirror is fairly inexpensive and it will make the room look much bigger, perhaps do one with a bevel. Or if youre buying a framed one u probably are needing a size of 72x48 minimum (that will put it almost to the ceiling and look great :-) Ds...See MoreErrant_gw
