Bathroom Vanity Remodel
Comments (1)Did you check ebay for vanities? I've bought two different vanities off ebay and have been very pleased. They seem to be cheaper than buying from the stores, even with shipping, and sometimes depending on the company shipping can be free. I bought a 60" Kraftmaid vanity with quiet close drawers for 499.00 (shipping included). I noticed that one of the Kraftmaid sellers on ebay has vanities that are 45" X 21" X 34.5", they also sell premade granite tops to fit them, that are fairly reasonable. Comments (16)yaya, that makes more sense - I was trying to picture what you were saying and didn't get it :-) Using side lights was a suggestion made on the bath forum and I think I like that idea. Then I could place the lights a little lower and not have them so crowded. If I do this, I'd have enough room for rectangular tile mirrors instead. Do you think those would look better than the ovals? If I use oval mirrors, should I use rectangular sinks? annz - I LOVE the Craftsman style bathroom and put that in my dream home folder. For this house, we've already put so much money into remodeling and have done everything custom in other rooms, but we're planning to move in a few years. I'm trying to stick with my plan of using nice materials but at the same time keeping it basic and low cost (it's hard for me to do!). I also want it done by June and if we start talking custom framing around the mirrors DH will take forever to finish! andrea - if we were staying here longer than a few more years I would have done so much more to change the footprint of this house, including the placement of windows! We just redid all of the stucco and outside trim, so I know changing the window placement isn't an option for us. It is limiting though....See MoreBathroom mirror vanity light swap or switch out mirror/light entirely?
Comments (2)Here is your dilemma. if you take down those fixtures there will be two holes in the mirror, that being said, they will be up high and most likely off center. So, to get new lighting that is not stuck in the corners, and covers the holes behind it, might be next to impossible unless you run a thick bar that covers the space. But some times back in the day they only drug wire over and did not put in actual junction boxes, so the bringing it to code might be another issue. 1. take one of the lights down and see what is going on 2. probably have to replace the mirror and move the electrical location....See Morehow to place mirror in bathroom remodel?
Comments (4)@Paul F. - I completely agree about the outlet near the sink! Too bad the builder (20 years ago) did not! :) Super excited my hubby is building me a docking drawer for my hair dryer, etc., so the plug by the sink will be used only by my Waterpik, so no cords running behind the sink. :) I have ordered the framed mirrors for above both sinks in this bathroom... Thanks, everyone, for the feedback!...See MoreRelated Professionals
