Results are in! 75 worms 6 months later.
Comments (15)Sorry Andrew, I didn't answer your question. Yes, they were all adults (no cocoons or vemricompost added to start). Thanks Borderbarb, I'll keep home schooling in mind. The possibilites really are endless, aren't they? Couldn't help myself, I started seasoning another bin today (that'll be bin 9, the final piece in the puzzle). I've left cardboard to soak for a few days, then I'll add some compost (ex "hot" compost bin) and some food (maybe 2 cups of kitchen blended scraps), and leave to brew up for a fortnight. This time, I might add more worm than I started my others with. I think I'll do a sort from bin 1 (again, yes I know, poor planning, should have been ready to go now! Oh well.)and add a couple of hundred, just to boot things along a bit. Cheers...See MoreI've lost 65 pounds! I'm sexy...
Comments (22)Hi Karen, I agree completely and I can relate to your story too. I gained 30 or so pounds since meeting my DH, 15 of which are already back off... but I was never so grateful that he never NEVER mentioned it. He's happy I'm losing it and gives encouragement, but he always said it was me he wanted to be with, not my body. It was me who had the issue of being overweight. I think Straycat speaks for all women when she says... "...Whether she is fat, skinny, built like a brick house or a bowling ball-she hopes and she prays her husband shes the woman inside the skin and loves every inch of her inside and out. But, when he doesn't she slowly becomes more and more empty and that is when the numbness sets in. It's hard, very hard for that to ever be replaced with love, the trust just isn't there. When that happens it's hard for her to give herself-to the same man." "...You are still in the physical stage of a relationship after all these years. Too bad, and to think...you've been married to the SAME woman all these years and you have never SEEN HER. " "...If you'd seen her through the eyes of love how would she have looked?" WOW~WOW~WOW How many of us have felt invisible/are feeling invisible right now? That Straycat can speak so completely for me, with all of our differences in opinion, says a lot. I think this is one of the core truths. THIS is how a woman (or man) becomes empty. This is the hole through which the love pours to the ground. This is the echo never answered....See MorePound Puppies
Comments (66)Linda and mazer, Those are the lines I was thinking of for a price. I was just shocked to see how much the rescues were charging. I had kind of stepped away from this thread because it was getting kind of ugly but I do want to add that I did find a "free" puppy and we love him so much and he is a hoot to watch. The young man that gave the puppy up had only had it a week when he was offered a job and had to make a decision. Evidently, when he posted the free puppy online he was swamped with people berating him for advertising for free, as only people who wanted pups for research labs and baiting would want it. Rescues "offered" to take it for the same reason. He also had a lot of offers to adopt the pup from people who had no idea what a blue tick hound was like. This young man was very concerned where his pup was going to go and when I went out to meet him he had his mom, grandparents, cousin and girlfriend there to help him make a sound judgement on who would be right for his puppy. Evidently, I was the only one that brought my dogs so he could see their overall health. I brought pictures of my yard, my vet bills and certificates and licensing for the pets. We talked for about an hour out in his yard after talking on the phone for that long too. The funny thing is the clincher for the puppy coming home with us was the fact I had worn my "puppy shoes" They are expensive sandals that have the straps all but chewed off by our Abby. When I started to look for a puppy I had figured my budget of around 500 dollars to get the puppy, give it's needles and be neutered. I was shocked to see that some places wanted as much or more for a heinz 57 pup that was a bit older because they took care of its initial care. I, wanted to be the one who did that for my puppy. Since I have looked for a "free" or low cost puppy people have assumed that I cant afford to care for one. Trust me.. my pets are pampered and are well cared for. I really resent being judged by people who don't know me. Well "nuff" said on this topic. Lorie...See MoreGood quality American drawer based kitchen cabinets?
Comments (29)Don't know exactly what you mean buy "rustic modern". I assume it would be wood and not high gloss paint. As someone who has built, study and reverse engineered Euro cabinets for many years I can tell you that I know of no "major" US manufacturer who builds this type of cabinets. Henrybuilt and Downsview in Canada do a pretty good job but still not the same and neither would be inexpensive. A custom guy could, maybe, but most have never even seen one of these kitchens in person so at best you will get some interpretation of a modern kitchen which can vary greatly depending how much he's willing to go out of his way. Being in Los Angeles I have access to all the showrooms; Boffi, Poggen Pohl, Varenna, Sandario etc. I visit them regularly and have been on many job sites where theses kitchens were being installed and got to get up close and personal with them. What goes into making a kitchen like this and how much you care how close it really is is the question. When someone ask me to copy one of these kitchens I sort of get obsessed with being as exact as possible. But that's me. I use a lot of the same European components. Hardware, veneer, Italian paint or clear coat and construction methods. The other important thing is the proportions. Each line I mentioned builds theirs and little differently but they are definitely not the same look as American made cabinets. You really need to define what you like before you can make that happen which ever way you go. John...See MoreRelated Professionals
