Thanks a lot for your advice. I am gonna research both the gritty mix and the 5-1-1. Since I need to re-pot because my soil is wrong, do you suggest that I shake or remove much of the old soil from the roots when I replant? When I was videos on re-potting, they seem to transfer much of the soil but I'm concerned that it will also carry the problem to the new pot. I wasn't able to find the 5-1-1 online. Do you have a suggestion on where to get this?

Thanks for elaborating. I really did think of zone 9b as tropical. 23F is quite a bit below freezing, when you consider tropical plants, they are usually damaged by much below 57F or 60F. You likely can grow lots of stuff that would grow in middle Florida (hardy tropicals) with your mentioned what we here call "grey water", basically all used water besides the human waste, to put it kindly. The continental US only hits the "tropical" conditions in the Florida Keys. My Bff stayed there for about 9 months on Big pine key, I got to visit for a week. It was beautiful, but, I missed my areas trees, even though they were bare at the time. The trees you mentioned above, I only recognize the Eucalyptus and Acacias by name. My area is too cold in winter for them, but, I think in California they had grown Eucalyptus trees, and Acacias makes me think of the African sahvana on Tv nature shows. But, California has lots of wildfires now, so I guess many of their trees are goners, like they didn't have enough problems, some nut was starting more fires where there weren't any. I just got your reference that in the north you have the tropical Boab, I nearly forgot your north is warmer, and it's OUR south that is warmer. If it's the same one I had seen, they store lots of water in their trunks from the Monsoon season (where they have a monsoon) not sure if you have a monsoon. And then people tap the trees for water when it's dry, and I think they remove the bark in thin strips and make ropes out of them and other stuff. In Africa that is... I do know Shax there are many "common names" for trees/plants and from continent, country etc. that common name is a completely different plant depending on where you go. I do think that the Acacias and Boab are the same trees, but not sure if the Boabs get so swollen with water in Australia as in Africas Monsoon season, etc. Later

PacNorWreck - I’ve already searched for the G&B orangics soil before, based on the recommendation of others. I haven’t been able to find it lically Kelly- Same goes for the Soil Conditiner. I think it’s only available in certain regions. The pure pine bark or pine bark mulch are both about $5/cf. I just need to decide now if I should chip my own or shift the mulch. Both will be plenty of work. I don’t know which is the better option. Matter all this, I’m going to start selling my own bagged mixed...it shouldn’t be so hard to track down all these ingredients.

Hi Kotlet00. Canada has some of the best peat bogs in the world. They are 90% of Canadian wetlands and they cover approximately 113.65 million hectares. Canada produces 1.34 million tons annually. The United States imports 87% of our annual production representing 95% of their peat imports. In the Province of Ontario pine fines are not used and they are not sold at garden centers. You can buy larger chunks of bark for pathways but it does not have the same properties as the tiny pine fines. In the United States it is a regional product and some states it is readily available and in other states it is unavailable. You can find some recipes for potting mix at Four Winds Growers website. Rose soil works well. You can go to any cannabis shop in Vancouver and buy a premium bag of potting soil. Avoid potting soils with wetting agents as they will keep citrus roots too wet. Look for potting soil with a maximum humidity of 60%. Citrus roots want to be in the 40-60% moisture range. I prefer clay pots without ceramic as they will dry out and breath. You want the pot not too much bigger than the root ball. If you put a small root ball in a large pot the soil at the bottom of the pot will remain wet and the root ball will begin to dry out.
