Doorknobs, tell me if I've lost my mind...
Comments (31)Just this morning I spent what I consider a small fortune on doorknobs. I blame my DH though (who will probably have a seizure when he finds out how much they cost), as I was more than happy with the less expensive Emtek rectangular handleset, whereas he preferred the Baldwin Boulder Rustic w/interior egg knobs. Of course, we also wanted the more expensive distressed ORB finish. The mortise lock upgrade for our front entry doors was pricey, but recommended since our doors are so large. And of course, I wanted matching egg knob handlesets with a rosette backplate for all of my interior doors, so I didn't want to switch to a less expensive brand for these doors - again bumping up my total cost. With a 10% discount for ordering from the manufacturer rather than taking them from the shelf, my total price from a local dealer came to approximately $1700, including tax. This was the lowest price I could find after receiving several quotes from different online sites (although my local dealer also offers his products online). I saved some money by choosing to pick up my order rather than have it shipped. These are my choices (except with the knob rather than the lever) - I can't wait to get them!...See Moretell me why do you love your bottom freezer, which model
Comments (10)I love my Jenn-Air bottom freezer, CD FD fridge. The freezer temp is always zero and the fridge is always 37 (unless DH leaves the door open:(. There is a digital readout and I can adjust the temp if I want to. Produce stays fresh for about 10 times longer than in my old Whirlpool SxS and the produce drawers don't freeze. One is fruit, the other is veg and apparently they are different temps (but who knows?) The deli drawer, below the produce drawers, has been known to freeze anything at the way back of the drawer, so I know it is colder back there. Then I found you can adjust the temp in that drawer from coldest (where it was) to less cold. Haven't had that problem since I moved the little thingie away from "coldest." I love this refrigerator. The KA is almost identical: they are both made by Amana....See MoreI hope you don't mind me sharing my latest painting...
Comments (29)I just realized in my first post I typed that I finished with the guidance of my painting teacher. I meant to say without. The unmatted size is 30" x 22" I took the picture with just a mat to avoid the glare from the glass. I currently have it framed temporarily in an Ikea frame. Eventually I'll get it professionally framed. What kind of mat(s) do you suggest golddust?...See MoreDo you like Kilim rugs? I do. Will you help me choose?
Comments (10)The room ...... just your basic, small suburban spare bedroom. We’re currently renting after selling last house, or I’d remove carpet. The carpet is clean and in new condition; the room was hardly used before we moved in. Shadows in these pics make it look skanky, I know. ~~~~~~ Antique saddle. My dad won the saddle blanket in ‘87 (cutting horse competition). My late husband’s grandfather made this. I cherish it. Some much-loved stuff in there, including antique cowbells (from rodeo/bull riding) and my prized Breyer horse model, Man O’ War, circa ‘70s, Jamaican carved wood vases my husband collected with his late wife, beach rocks from Cape Cod visit when my DD was little, old pottery, etc. Oh! I forgot about the big grapevine balls, forgot to put them up after Christmas. IGNORE THE BALLS — I know it’s very cluttered, but it is what it is! Big downsize from last house. Let’s call it a layered look. :D That old printer the size of a small car will be out of here soon. The Long Island map, that my husband assures me everyone growing up on LI would remember seeing (this was in his house when he was a kid). Seeing them again this year!! Vintage hand tooled purse. Want the throw rug here. An accent piece to break up the dumb carpet. My now husband’s grandmother did this lovely pencil drawing (right of guitar) in 1947 ... Very old family belt buckles (I have more, need to get them out):...See More- 9 years ago
