Reliability of Jenn-air appliances or what brand should I get
Comments (82)Microwave/oven combo installed in new build 2018. "F2" error message July of 2022, so whole unit out of commission. (Homebuilder has same unit, same outcome.) Jenn-air said right off the bat we'd have to wait a while for the replacement control board. Just had yet another contact with them, during which they insist there's been no recall over that part, but they still cannot provide that part (?) and would I like to put us on a list to go to an internal review board, for consideration of a pro-rated replacement unit. My 2 questions: why would we WANT another Jenn-air?? and if they can't cough up the part because of demand ... how is there NOT a recall? I asked if they couldn't "rob" a part off a set in inventory, and the tech acted like he didn't understand the question. So, here we are. Oh, yeah, and on my first contact, I gave them the model number and serial number, and they asked ME for the part #!! How would I know the damn part #???...See MorePlease critique my appliances (Jenn-Air, Electrolux Icon)
Comments (2)I want to add to my original post that I visited an appliance store today where a salesman told me that they don't carry Electrolux at all because "it takes two months to get spare parts" when a repair is needed. That's giving me second thoughts about my appliance choices, even though I take everything salespeople say with a grain of salt. Has anybody had problems getting their Electrolux appliances repaired?...See MoreDoes anyone Have Any real life pictures of Jenn-Air Pro Style?
Comments (2)We installed the Jenn Air Pro Style range, OTR microwave and frig a little over a year ago and I have just loved them. I came back on the appliances forum today because I lurked here so much in order to make my appliance decisions and thought I should follow up with my experience. The range decision really drove the decision on the others, but I'm happy with all of them. The simmer burner is great, the broiler is excellent and clean up is easier than I expected (I just use soapy water and sometimes a little Barkeepers Friend if it's baked on). I did have a service call to replace a burner ignitor that wasn't working properly. I haven't actually tried the other features like convection, so can't speak to that. I will try to figure out how to post a photo for you....See MoreCaution regarding Jenn Air appliances
Comments (30)This post sort of ties in with the earlier Jenn-Air post, as both Jenn-Air and KitchenAid are manufactured by Whirlpool. Remember that name - WHIRLPOOL. So I bought a whole KitchenAid package last August - a fridge, stove, hood, dishwasher. The fridge has an outside H2O and ice dispenser. There's a nifty electronic reading that reports how much water is dispensed, in ounces. I noticed that an 8 oz. reading on the fridge was really dispensing a tad over 4 ounces. Hmmm....I thought, not a big deal but I should call while it's still under warranty and get this fixed. The first repairman came out and said I needed a new "something or other" and he promptly ordered it. The part arrived in less than a week. The second repairman came out to install it and said I never needed the part in the first place. He said the reading was off because my water pressure was low. So apparently, the water is not actually 'measured', but 'guesstimated' by the time the button is depressed, based on an average water pressure. I thought it was a stupid thing to have a measurement reading when it really doesn't measure anything. My water pressure is good to fair. So I shrugged it off and forgot about it. Until I received a bill for $90 for a service visit that wasn't covered under warranty. I called the service company and Whirlpool (who I think is ultimately responsible for this charge) and both companies insisted that I had to pay this bill. I guess I was supposed to know how Whirlpool engineered their product. I am beyond fuming on this. Remember the name - Whirlpool, Jenn-Air, KitchenAid. If anyone has contact info for someone from Whirlpool/KitchenAid who actually gives a damn about my dilemma, please share it with me. I still find it hard to believe they expect me to pay this bill....See Moresilken1
