Heart leaf philodendron with some problems

I've owned this plant for almost 2 years. Recently life got in the way and it was abused a little more than it should have been. It started to look lanky so I cut it back a bit. There's something going on with the leaves...tips are turning brown and there's brown holes forming on the older leaves. I don't visibly see bugs anywhere. Is it a build up of salts in the soil or some type of fungus? I haven't had any luck searching on Google.

This next picture is the leaf that looks the worst...

Any suggestions would be great...thanks in advance!

The holes look as if they have been there for a while, not sure of the cause doubt it is a serious issue as the other leaves look fine. When was this last repotted?

Agree. (Looks like Scindapsus, technically.)

No, it's pretty particular to you. If you WANT to know how to use pm's: Click member's name, click on "activity" and if they have their settings so that you can pm them, a little, magic box that says "message" will appear. It's all very mystical, I can't figure out the right combination or time of day to do it to get the box to spawn. It's pretty random. Must be set on like 0.0000001% chance in the algorithms of the program.

hi, purple! i'd think that instead of water it'll be better to root it half buried in moist perlite or long fibre sphag. the cane might rot in water. i rooted Ph. subinsicum cane with 2 juvie 7" leaves and the cane about 6" long and 1.5" fat. i put it horizontally in loose peanut shells, sterilized: nuke in microwave 4 min with some water and cool. and some small amount of LF sphag to keep moisture. tented, of course. so very loose substrate. but even that kept rotting the cane end. So i finally turned it in such a way, as to stick the end out in the air to keep it dry. it finally callused after sev weeks.

There isn't a 'wrong' way to cut Pholodendron cuttings. But they might be a bit slower. If they have roots they'll grow. Time to pot them into a medium and get them out of the water. They'll grow from dormant buds in the leaf axils. No need to prune. Pruning doesn't make things grow. It just directs growth where you want it to go. All my house plants are from cuttings or offsets. That's the fun for me. Buying ready made plants seems like cheating.

Actually that looks to be a philodendron brandtianum. or Philodendron Brandi more commonly. It doesn/t have the hook shape of a scindapsus, satiny texture or silver edge around the leaf (Silver Splash doesn't have the silver edging, but the other 4 varieties all do). I had a similar issue start on mine and it was from the tap water I was using to water it. I started using fish tank chlorine removing drops and letting my gallons of water sit for 24-48 hours and it went away.
