I don't have any suggestions, but I just wanted to say I love that Maple Glaze! So pretty! I think a gray would be nice with it but unfortunately I don't have any specific color suggestions. Since you already know you like it, could you start with the Chelsea Gray color strip and try something lighter/further down the strip? Does the Behr website have a color tool where you might see colors that compliment the Maple Glaze? I think BM's site has something like that. Good luck!

Unfortunately I don't have photos to post, but I'm hoping my description might lead to some advice nonetheless... We are completing a remodel that has also reconfigured our entryway/stairwell and I'm looking for a good color for that area. Any color on the stairwell will become the upstairs landing color as well. I've drawn a rough sketch of the layout. Basically there are a number of openings that provide sight lines from the entryway into the dining room, living room and kitchen. The trim downstairs is gumwood, most stained very dark with reddish tone that we hope to remove at some point. Upstairs the trim is painted white, so whatever color we go with will need to work with both stained wood and white paint. Initially we were thinking that we should use gray for the entryway to set off the lighter colors in the living room, dining room and kitchen. We tried BM Seattle Mist but it looked too muddy. Then we tried BM Silver Half Dollar, which we liked, but now we wonder if going gray is really the right choice. Will gray prove too dark and oppressive? Should we go with a lighter shade -- maybe even use the BM Ivory Tusk that we use in the kitchen? We'd love any advice on colors that work in that type of space and in relation to the colors we've already chosen (Ivory Tusk, Camouflauge, Pale Celery).

bongalow, I think what happened to the cornsilk in your foyer is that it is up against the dark wood and in a small space so the color is more intense. I have some samples hanging on a white door (I'm trying to find colors for my new home) and it is much lighter than it shows in your foyer. My own experiene is, I've always had difficulty matching paint colors to wood trim. I use to have wood trim in this house, but after 2 paint jobs ending in paint I hated, I just went ahead and painted all the wood white to save my sanity. HA! I'm not recommending that for you, just wanted to share my experience.

The open concept living area ((13ft w x32ft long) is very small, but with a sloped ceiling (10 to 12.5 ft. high) The space feels long and narrow, with kitchen at one end and living space at the other. There is lots of natural south facing light here. This house is less than 900 sq. ft. it is under new construction with a short/fast deadline. This space will be rented or for Air bnb. I wanted to make the living space appear more open with an all white paint scheme. This would have been easier if I could have had the cabinets painted, but we went with a thermafoil cabinet for durability and price. I feel like colour on the walls would be overwhelming. We are planning on putting a little pop of colour on the island, probably a teal like BMs: "Mills Springs blue", "Avalon", or "Aegean Teal". We have black windows, and black hardware, with stainless steel appliances. I will be picking paint colours before the cabinets are installed, It's just the construction process that I'm in. I have a square sample of the cabinet that I can use to colour match, and it just about matches "White Heron" by BM. I will paint 2 samples on the walls this weekend (white heron and simply white). They only had two sample cans left at the store, so that's all I could do for the moment. I would prefer Simply white, because I think it will work better in the rooms with less light. I would ideally like to paint all rooms the same colour (bedrooms, entrance/hall). What colour scheme would you suggest for this long narrow open space. I really like the Scandinavian theme, or farmhouse that's not too rustic, more clean lines, calm simplistic. I really appreciate your thoughts, even if it involves colour. I love the all white scheme, but I am overwhelmed by it because I do realize that it's risky, given that I'm not a designer. Thank you so much for your thoughts.
