Should I paint the pine in my family room and/or my fireplace?
Comments (5)yep. You can liven up the area without sacrificing the depth & warmth of that rich knotty pine paneling; replacing the cool-color carpet with warm wood flooring will be more harmonious. Once that's done, live with it a little while, & then you might think about doing something to the fireplace-I usually think red brick is too massive & dense for any building other than a school, & definitely too much for the interior of a home, so I'd probably lighten it up. Then you might think about replacing the cool-color paint on the walls with a warm color that would tie the room together rather than driving it apart. (yes, you are correct: I am incapable of doing just one thing & leaving other things alone!). It's a lovely room, & I hope you have fun with it!...See MoreShould I paint my fireplace mantle bright white?
Comments (10)You'll want to switch all your bulbs for LEDs in the 4K range to improve the light and the way color reads in the space. I would match the mantel to the trim color, or paint it a stricking black to match the firebox surround and hearth. Also plan to style it with fewer items and replace the mirror with art, since it is not reflecting anything beautiful or interesting you'd want to see twice....See MoreHelp me paint my family room -- fireplace accent wall

Comments (6)I think your space is too small to do a two-toned set. It will begin to be too busy. If this space is to be your dining area, center the table parallel to the fireplace under the fan and switch it to a nice chandelier. Consider matching the table to the mantel color. If you really want the two-tone, use the island and cabinet colors....See Moresedona16
