LOL! I like the SHAPE of the chandelier, but not necessarily the actual wood branches. That might be a little too rustic, even for me :)

I was curious, so I googled 'twig chandelier'. From the results, it seems that they are quite popular. If my ceilings were higher I might try to make one like the following pic, but I burn piles of this stuff twice a year. :P

This one is very pretty, would be easier to clean, and I think it would work nicely in that room--but then we probably wouldn't be discussing it. I wonder if designers ever consider how difficult their designs will be to keep clean.

Fishcow- It amazes me that people picked up on the chandelier more than anything else. It's not why I posted the picture, but it's interesting to see what jumps out at people. For me, it was the deer print! Even though they love to eat my roses, I wouldn't trade my little cuties for anything.

Beth- I am very excited...and even tried the paint colors on the wall yesterday. But, I spent most of the day in the garden. Hopefully, I can finish the Pine Tree garden today (!) and take some pictures!

Mama goose, I think I got hung up on the chandelier for 2 reasons. 1. It seemed like something is living in there like mentioned before, spiders or birds and second, my DH is the "safety police" at our house. If I put anything like that in our house I would certainly be cited with a safety violation! :)

Hi Lavender! I just wanted to remind you of Kirstie Alley's kitchen. It has white cabs too. Even though her paint scheme is a little different, I like her open shelves and use of fabrics.

I've been saying that for many seasons and two out of three so far :)

You know....many people didn't get that she was protecting her child. She and the others could have made a run for it, with Drogon as a distraction, but she went to save her dragon. She has two more, so it wasn't that she HAD to have Drogon, but he's her baby.

I have horses, so I know what that's like. They get MUCH bigger (and can be more dangerous) than when they were babies, but they will always be YOUR baby! LOL

I think it's going to be Khaleesi vs Snow for the win, myself....or maybe team human vs the whitewalkers? :-o

I think it will take Ice and Fire to win the throne...and that would be Jon Snow and Dany, working together. And those dragons are going to be very handy with the White Walkers.

Have you read about the Night King? I haven't read the books, but online they're saying the Night King was a Stark of the Night Watch (thousands of years ago) who fell in love with a beautiful woman (with white skin and blue eyes) who many say bewitched him. Then he turned evil and controlled the men of the Night Watch for many years, before he was defeated and his name removed from the history books. Interesting....and they're also speculating he may be the same guy, who raised the dead and watched Jon Snow leave on the boat.

I have read all the Ice & Fire books. And also a big fan of GoT. Team Khaleesi/Snow/Tyrion.

However, a terrible event occurred that is *not* in the book. Ugh.

Stannis? If it's what happened last week, it just makes Dany look like an even better mother, when she saved Drogon.

Jon Snow is not dead. I don't believe it....and I really was not that fond of Jon until episode 9 last season. Then this season, he seemed to finally be growing up and becoming a more interesting character.

So, are we finally killing the boy (as the Maester requested) and getting the man? Jon Snow seemed to be the man in episode 8 this season, then regressed into the boy when he got back to the Wall. Maybe 'dying' will make Jon Snow become the leader he was meant to be...only time will tell.

Meanwhile, loved Dany and Drogon last night. Everything else was kind of disturbing, except for Theon FINALLY helping Sansa.

*** And getting back to color....I did buy new green paint for our kitchen, Saturday. It's more jadite/jedi (LOL) than the other green and I hope it will be a good match with the light blue. We're going to try to get some painting done this week, then I can post some pictures....probably on a new thread :)

I subscribe strongly to the theory of R + L = J. I've read the whole series three times through (but I don't have HBO, so I've only seen the films that're available on DVD), and I can list off the reasons why this absolutely has to be true! Several of my fellow teachers are also obsessed with GOT, and I've sold them each a ticket on this conspiracy train. I've made them true believers.

As for this or that team, I'm team Snow all the way -- have been since he was introduced in Chapter 2. I mean, what's cooler than a Direwolf?

My prediction: The dragon has three heads. We've heard that time after time. They'll be Dany, Young Griff, and Jon (OF COURSE he's not dead! Jon Snow dead? Perish the thought!). Targs all. And Tyrion -- an older, wiser man with a real knack for leadership and knowledge of the Seven Kingdoms -- will be their hand.

I do not subscribe to the idea that Young Griff and Jon are twins separated at birth; the evidence for that craziness is sketchy at best. I do think that Septa Lemore is "more than she appears". I think she's Lyanna Stark, who never really died, but some of my teacher-colleagues are sold on the idea that she's Ashara Dayne, and they do have a reasonable argument -- the book keeps bringing her up.

Yes, I've read about the Night King. According to Old Nan's stories, which seem to be strongly based in truth, he was Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, yet he saw a woman white as snow with ice blue eyes (fits description of the White Walkers) and he loved her, and he gave her his spirit along with his seed. Together they ruled for -- was it 13 years? And the book doesn't say he died -- just that he was removed from power because of his cruelty. According to Old Nan, his name was Brandon Stark (of course, this book contains so many Brandon Starks that you can't shake a stick at them). My opinion: Coldhands, the guy who helped Bran & Co. (and later helped Sam and Gilly), says that "they" killed him long ago. When one of the kids says, "He's a monster", his response is, "Your monster, Brandon Stark." I stared at that sentence a long time. Does that mean he's our Bran's monster, here to serve Bran ... or is he acnkowledging that he's a monster and his own name is also Brandon Stark? Either way, I lean towards Coldhands = Night's King = a previous Brandon Stark.

When did Jon leave on a boat?

I also think Rickon Stark is going to come back from Skaggos (with Shaggy Dog), and he's going to kick the whole North's *** and retake Winterfell. The Karstarks, the Umbers and all the Northern lords will join him, as will the hill tribes and the Night's Watch. We cannot have peace until we once again have a Stark in Winterfell. I think Theon will redeem himself Darth Vader style and help Rickon in some way ... but will die in doing so. I think Arya will make her way home and will serve her brother ... from the shadows as a Faceless Woman. Imagine the power Rickon will wield, having her at this side. I can't make a guess about Sansa, but I do think her plotline could end with her marrying Harry the Heir, just as Little Finger has so carefully planned -- then she'd rule the Vale and the Eyrie.

What if Sansa goes through all this....to end up with Tyrion again? I bet she thinks he was a much better husband, now! :)

Tyrion was a better husband than he appeared at first glance. His looks -- okay, certainly not the stuff of songs, but Sansa has grown up and knows that the world isn't like a song. But he was kind to her -- he defended her before she was his wife, he refused to force himself up on her sexually (even when dear old Dad commanded, DO IT NOW), and he didn't throw her under the bus when she disappeared just as Joffrey was killed. Tyrion has done awful things, but mostly they've been part of the war. Okay, he did have that guy chopped up and served in a stew, but the idiot was kind of asking for it.

Remember, too, that the Hound clearly has a thing for Sansa.

She seems to attract monsters ... monsters who actually have a heart of gold hidden beneath a grotesque exterior.

As for Sansa, remember one of the prophecies states that she will kill a monster. And while I can't remember the exact wording, I think it said something about in a great hall, and I was led to believe it would happen in Winterfell. I wonder if she's going to kill Little Finger? Or Ramsey? Both are monsters, though in different ways. Or maybe a literal monster that comes over the wall?

I don't know who Young Griff is (haven't read the books) but I do think Tyrion might be the one, who rides that third dragon :)

Young Griff: When Kings' Landing fell and the Mad King was killed, supposedly Tywin Lannister's man Gregor Clegane (The Mountain Who Rides) killed Prince Rhaegar's children. After escaping from King's Landing, Tyrion ends up on a pole boat with a sellsword and "his son". He is eventually told that the boy is actually Prince Rhaegar's son, who has been in hiding with Jon Connington, one of Rhaegar's best friends. He is told that Varyes essentially "bought" another baby, who was slipped into the castle and who died in the real prince's place. Jon Connington has spent his whole life carefully preparing Young Griff to lead the country, and he is taking him to meet Daenerys, thinking that the two will then take Westeros together.

Should we believe this? Apparently many lies were told on the day of that battle, and it's hard to know what to believe! However, Varyes is behind this whole plot ... and I don't think we've seen him wrong yet, and he's the type of guy who doesn't mind making the hard choices (like killing an innocent child).

I can't buy Tyrion as a Secret Targ.

I'm sure Jon is a Targaryen, and I don't see GRRM using the same "ha-ha --- his father isn't who you think he is" twice in the same book. It's not the kind of thing you can pull off twice in one story.

We know that the Mad King "had a thing" for Joanna. We know that Tywin was insanely in love with his wife, and he started acting differently /more sternly after her death. What we don't know, given that Joanna died before the book began, is how she felt about either of them. It's possible that she cared for the king ... but he was married, or she felt it was right to marry Tywin for the good of her family (Lannisters are nothing if not family-oriented). We see a number of other marriages that were made for reasons other than love:

Ned-Catlin -- She was supposed to marry his older brother, but after he died, Ned kind of "did his duty" and married her; she said he was a stranger, and she felt fortunate to fall in love with him as the years went on.

John Arryn-Lysa -- He needed her father's army; she was "tainted goods" and her father was anxious to find her a husband. But she didn't share her sister's happy ending, as she never found love with her much-older husband.

Val-Magnar of the Thenns -- This marriage was engineered to bring peace between two peoples.

The list could go on.

Plus, Jon, Dany and Young Griff are of a similar age -- Tyrion is considerably older. All three have been raised somewhat as outcasts, whereas Tyrion -- in spite of being different physically -- grew up enjoying the benefits of being a Lannister of the Rock. I just think the three "heads" are going to be more alike than different.

Right, I did read a bit on this online....but I don't believe the Young Griff character was in the show. And if they were going to introduce him, wouldn't it have been when Tyrion and Varys were on their way to see Dany? That ship (pardon the pun) has already sailed.

My guess is that by not introducing him this season (and spending entirely too much time in Dorne) they are not going to use that character. We'll find out next season :)

Yes, if they're omitting Young Griff from the show, it is a hint that perhaps he's not an integral part of the storyline. Or perhaps he's going to show up later? It's anyone's guess.

At this point the show is deviating wildly from the books (for example, Penny, who is a pretty important character in the book is omitted from this part of the show), but it does seem that they couldn't vary so far as to "sub in" a new head for the dragons!

I actually liked Dark Sansa and Littlefinger - it seems like living her dark side was the happiest she had ever been, ironically, too bad he seems to have no honor for any human but himself. I would be disappointed in Tyrion if he fell in love with Sansa - he needs someone brilliant and challenging. Maybe all the men who are in love with Dany will die off and she and T will ride off into the sunset on the dragons (who is on the third dragon? #zombiejon, of course!)

Technically, isn't Sansa still married to Tyrion? He wasn't executed, so her marriage to Ramsey is not even legit.

As I said, Tyrion has always been wonderful....but he probably seems a lot better, after Ramsey. She's finally growing up and maybe she'll start to realize that how people look is far less important than how people act.

I remember Littlefinger telling Ramsey & his father that Sansa was pure as the marriage was never consummated.

I do remember that scene...but it's Littlefinger. That guy creeps me out, on a good day.

Speaking of creepy, I miss Charles Dance (Tywin). He was such a huge presence on the show, I think that's one reason people have said this season wasn't as good. You have Olenna sparring with Littlefinger and Tyrion with Jorah...it's just not the same. It's like watching someone play solo ping pong :)

Can't wait to see how they kill Ramsey, is all I can contribute....

SPOILERS AHEAD:

I believe Young Griff is who they say he is: The son of Rhaegar, snuck out of the Red Keep just in time, raised by Rhaegar's good friend Jon Connington. Am I right? Only time will tell.

I don't know what the duck means. One of Young Griff's attendants is a sellsword nicknamed Duck, and I have been confused as to WHY his foster father -- former hand of the king, experienced warrior extrordinaire -- hired someone else to train Young Griff. I mean, he himself is capable, and the more people who know Young Griff's real identity, the more danger he is in. And Tyrion commented that Duck was "less than he seemed". If Jamie showing us the duck isn't a hint that Duck will be important later in the book, I don't know what it means. What Duck might do, however, is anyone's guess.

I agree that her time at the Eyrie has been the happiest time of Sansa's adult life. Her childhood was better, of course, but her eyes were also closed to the real world at that point.

I agree that Sansa and Tyrion -- even if Sansa were capable of overlooking his physical shortcomings, no pun intended -- are poorly matched. He's much more intellectual than she is, and she is much more social. Too bad the marriage plans for Sansa and Willis fell through; I think that would've been a good thing for her.

I'd say her marriage to Tyrion is invalid because it was never consummated, but none of us have read the Seven Pointed Star -- the holy book of their faith -- so we can't say with confidence whether they consider the marriage valid or not. She certainly doesn't seem to consider herself Lady Lannister.

Sansa can't lie to Ramsey about being married to Tyrion. If she did, he'd rape her anyway (remember of whom we're speaking), and when he realized she's a virgin, he'd know the marriage wasn't consummated.

In the book Ramsey marries Arya, or at least he thinks he does. The truth is that Little Finger sent Jeyne Poole (Sansa's childhood best friend -- remember Little Finger, who owns a bunch of brothels, offered to "find a place" for Jeyne?) to the North wearing Stark colors, with instructions to say she is Arya. Everyone believes the real Arya is dead, so they'll never be caught in their lie. Theon knows, but he is too terrified to tell the truth, even when he sees Ramsey abusing the girl. Why do the Boltons want this marriage so much? They're ravenous to make their stranglehold on the North official, so marrying Ramsey (heir to the Dreadfort, natural son of Roose Bolton) to the girl they believe to be the last living Stark essentially gives them control of the North.

In the books, Sansa is still in the Eyrie with Little Finger, who is making plans to marry her to a never-before-mentioned character called Harry the Heir. Through a round-about train of likely events, he is sickly Robin Arryan's heir, so he is almost certain to inherit the Vale and the Eyrie. He is also described as handsome and good, though he likes to run around with the ladies. He will accept Sansa in a heartbeat; first because she's an ideal wife -- beautiful, well-trained to run his household; second because his position would be considerably strengthened by marrying the former lord's niece. Will this happen? Only time will tell.

Oh, yes, the books are good! So much better than the movie series! Intricate backplots, complicated characters, and you never quite know who's telling the truth.

I would love to see pictures once you're done. I think this concept would be really nice. It doesn't have to be this cottage-y of course. Paint all the cabinets the same color for some consistency in the room, especially if you have multiple counter surfaces, add the floral vintage wallpaper to the upper cabinets and then pick up either shade of green from the wallpaper/fabric for your wall paint....since that's the trickiest to find and the most eye catching. Then start filling in with cool vintage finds, fabric, knick knack shelves, etc.
