A few less Lima beans, a few more butterflies!
Comments (5)Sorry to joke about it but I did not really plant Lima beans in my garden this year! I did plant Blue lake pole beans, and some other variety I don't remember! I have not checked the bean plants for any butterfly activity- thanks for the reminder. I have many, many, many, monarch eggs. I have up to 4 adults in the yard all day long as soon as the air temps warm up in the morning. And have had at least three visits from a Queen mama judging front the different sets of caterpillars I have run across....See MoreA few more blooms showing up!
Comments (8)Thanks Masha! Don't worry, I'll keep 'em coming from now on. They're popping out like weeds. Les, CANDLELIGHT is really turning into a beautiful rose. I got it from Hortico a few yrs ago, and it gets better every yr. CREDIBLE JUSTIFICATION is an iris I've had for a looooong time. It's in the first oddball bed. Goes well in there! Ramblinrosez, the bugs go after the irises a little bit. Not so much on the blooms as on the leaves. However, there's always these teeny tiny little bugs crawling in and around the beards and the base of the blooms. They don't really seem to hurt the blooms, but I have to blow them off the petals so they don't show up in the pics. Kathy, the irises are growing in amongst the roses. It's probably not such a great idea. If you don't get them dug out every 3-4yrs, they crowd the roses. Thanks Organic... I love IRISH CREAM. But then I love all the "oddballs." LEAD DOG is really hard for me to photograph. It's planted in a semi-shady area and it's hard to get good indirect light. It's a very different color combination. Once again, what I like!! Thanks Kate! The way the irises are opening up, you might wanna get down here soon!!! I'll be here this Sunday. My only day off. Lemme know if it's a good weekend for you....See MoreQuite a few clumps today
Comments (13)Thank y'all for looking and commenting. Debra, Valentine Sweetheart has three scapes and the other one I won't name has increased a fan and has two scapes. The other seedling also has increased and has three scapes. Debra, Clown Parade is in full sun and has done extremely well from the first season on. I shared some of it twice last year, but it doesn't seem to notice. On the other hand, Stenciled Infusion does great there and has not increased at all. It wi probably move to another area to see if it likes it better. No reason Nancy just a foggy brain. My plants have stymied me this year Fighting, fire, Buffalo Kisses and Citrix are not blooming much at all; nor is Marseilles Watercolor. Gillian is going great guns, heavily scaped and budded, first time ever. Some always tall ones are short Some usually short ones are tall. Viola Francois is new, thanks to Kate and doing fine. I have added several yellows since I realized I was quite short on yellow. North Carolina Sugar Daddy, Joan Senior, and Viola Fancois are my only whites, but Heaven; Edge is close. as everyone knows, I love red, but many more colors are needed. kay...See MoreQuite a few more reblooming now
Comments (11)Thank you, Debra, It has been a crazy rebloom year. We are getting rain now but July was very, very dry and yet they still started popping up even with no watering. There are quite a few to still begin blooming and some of them act like it is the first season. I have always had good rebloom but rebloom to this extent is unprecedented. kay...See Moremantis__oh
