Plumeria flowers dropping with brown edges

Hi, new to this whole endeavor of growing a Celadone Plumeria. Bought a very nice multi branch stock in early March from the Aloha Festival. After much research planted and saw positive growth signs in mid April. I should mention I live in Phoenix with warm temps then and now hitting triple digits. Plant did well right up to mid may with leafing and LOTS of flower buds. The very first blooms were well formed and fragrant. This past week I've noticed many blooms dropping after partial opening and a darkened coloring to edges. The temps have also risen over this time both day and nighttime. I did move it out of direct sun so is now getting only approx 3 hrs of direct sun, but is on porch with bright light most of day. Cannot see any pest or webbing. Have only watered when moisture meter reads on dry side. This is my new baby and 1st time growing plumeria--any help or suggestions are greatly welcomed.

a 3 in 1 type product or neem oil will work.

Wow, it sounds like you're doing everything right! If you have really well draining soil and you're getting those temps I would go ahead and water a little more - what size container is the plant in? I live in Texas and when we're approaching the 100's I am watering about every other day - are your leaves showing any sign of drooping? I bet you giving it a break from the sun & maybe giving a little extra water would help. By chance are you able to post a picture?

6 ft from window is equivalent to darkness or deep shade at best. Gardenias need a lot of light. Like any plant in a pot it needs a well drained soil. Most of the pictures in this thread probably can be attributed to bad peaty soil that retains water indefinitely. I used to grow Gardenias and never had a problem. Now I have a dwarf gardenia instead and I like it even better. Here is a pretty recent pic. It is still outside, was 38F last night. It is may be 5 years old and blooms mainly in spring but does have some blooms rest of the year. Woolly aphids and mealies love the little nooks and crannies. Alcohol spray is the safest for these guys but I will use horticultural oil a few times a year.

Some of mine are beginning to turn yellow and drop leaves. The days are getting shorter and the nights are cooler, they go naked in the winter. When they do that, stop watering them until next year. When they are not actively growing, they can rot from too much water. Detrick can provide more info! Susie

Plant needs water - it is too dry. - Yellow, dropping leaves are a sign of over-watering. Plant does NOT need water - it is too wet. I planted a 16' multi-trunk River Birch in our front yard this spring. It's been in the ground for about 3 months now. And I've noticed that every once a while I notice yellow leaves on the tree. And it's always after I haven't watered for a couple days. I started out watering everyday, and in the last 6 weeks or so I water every other or every 3rd day. This is central Florida. VERY dry right now. And it seems like the yellow leaves are a sign it's dry. I know that "goes against the rules", but it seems that way with this tree. If I see yellow leaves, I usually also see no new leaves. So I water the heck out of it, and the next day, I see new leaves sprouting. It's happened about 3 times now. Hi, I can't answer your questions on the brown edges or tips of your flowers. But on a hot day, do not spray water on the plants in the sun, not on the leaves either..that can cause burning. Wait until the sun moves, in shade, then can wash them off if dirty, or in my case...too much bird poo.. If in sun, wait until it cools off.. I don't know if that is the brown problem.. Do you water first to get water on the roots, then feed? could be chemical burn from the feeding if some part of your plant is dry. You need a expert to come in and help you with this problem.. I am thinking same as E. Not enough water to keep the blooms live longer. If I understood correctly its a newly rooted plant and probably does not have the root system quite yet to support growth and blooms so something has to give. You are no doubt in a dry climate so it will be hard (but not impossible) to over water during the summer. I would observe and see how it does in the new location then perhaps start to introduce to higher amounts of sunlight. Or look for afternoon shade locations to place it.

are they staying like that or do they open more? That might be insect damage maybe thrip.

The first blooms 2 weeks ago perfect. Now all like photo, do not open any wider and drop within 1-3 days. Is there a specific way to treat Plumeria for thirps?
