Aaaaah! There are tiny worms/caterpillars eating my plumeria leaves!

I'm brand new to plumerias and have been actively acquiring them this past month. This morning, I noticed some leaves had tiny holes. I looked on the underside of the leaves and saw small grey worms with a black heads. These worms were approximately 2-3 mm in length. They move really slow and like to stay in the same area and munch away. I scrapped them off with a stick and crushed them. I probably pulled off 12-15 critters from my 5 plants that I've only owned for three weeks or so.

Has anyone experienced this? What are these things and how do I prevent them? I live in San Diego and have never seen this worm on any other plant in my backyard.
