I'd be afraid that 25 minutes was too long. Next time put out some tuna or cat food cans and see how full they get after 25 minutes. If they are more than 1/4 full, I'd say that's too much. Normally we tell people 5-15 minutes, 3x per day for 2 weeks. Bermuda; however, is as resilient as they come. It will easily fill in this summer even if you only have a little bit of it alive. Whatever you do don't get concerned that it is falling behind and try to fix it with bermuda seed. There is no seed that matches TIF 419. That is a hybrid. If you seed into TIF it will look weedy from now on.

Once the grass is knit down to the soil (try lifting a corner here and there) you can start to back off on the frequency. Ultimately you are shooting to water 1 full inch (cat food can full) per week, but you apply it all at one time. So for example my sprinkler is an oscillator and it takes 8 full hours to fill the cans. If it ever stops raining on our drought, then I will give it 3 weeks to dry out and start watering 8 hours once every week or two. Your sprinkler system will be different. My concern would be that your system could be a high flow and apply an inch in 25 minutes. You need to test your own.

Thank u so much! Sorry DChall if I was confusing! I do not have sprinkler system oy orbit 4 timer yard hose timer system. I was told to keep soil moist (not sopping wet) for first 3-4 weeks. The first week was shot because builder didn't water . It appears to be coming along nicely I think!

Is the cat food can per week after its established? You water one area of your yard 8 hours??? How is it not a sopping wet mess?

Based on last watering of day which was 20 minutes on this one are it was a little over a half ounce of water so based on what's said I'm waterin everyday right now bc new sod donuts getting approx 7 oz a week speaking tuna cans here so just over one tuna can a week! Just not all at once

I think I will back off water a little saw someone me blades will lil yellow on them my guess too much water. This is like a science trying to get established especially since builder screwed me. It is filling in much faster than ever anticipated.

And I have no idea what you were trying to say in your last two posts. I think you think you're watering too much. I think I agree. All you have to do is moisten the soil under the sod. You do not need to saturate it. For most people 4-5 minutes, three times per day, for 2-3 weeks will do it. But for my sprinklers, 20 minutes 3x per day might not be enough.

Yes it takes 8 hours to fill the cat food cans. My neighbor's high flow system takes 20 minutes to fill the cans. I think I'm reading that yours takes 40 minutes to fill the cans, but I'm having trouble understanding ounces when I'm talking about inches. Everyone's sprinkler, hose diameter, hose length, and water pressure is different. My sprinkler sweeps a big arc over and back leaving just a few drops everywhere.

A couple before photos when builder didn't water and let grass sit for a week. A few after trying to baby it back to health past two and half weeks am I screwed? Or not to worry with the tifway 419?

Those definitely show the resilience of bermuda. It's on its way. Deep infrequent watering is important now. Deep is one cat food can (the short ones) per week all at one time.

Only problem I have with a deep watering is its all clay underneath! So it will start to run off. Just put down organic soil enhancer. Fingers crossed
