many family pictures down narrow hallway--tips? suggestions?
Comments (26)Wow, Still lynski...you make a great point too! BTW-This is why I am awful on a jury. As the prosecution speaks, i am thinking "Fry the ba$tard!" Then the defense gets up and I think "OMG, this poor defendant has been framed!" If I hear good points and reasons, I can be easily swayed. Everyone here has made a GREAT point. I guess I have a lot to digest and think about. I love this forum because I have quickly learned my gut instinct/first choice is not always the correct way. Before the internet and forums like this I also learned my gut/first choice was wrong, but only through trial and error. This forum saves me from making the mistakes with my time and my money. anyway, Still lynski...you make a great suggestion about the groups, and also the "group in 3" rule. But I don't want it to look too contrived. Also, toward the end of the hall, I would need a runner (the 3rd/last runner) but there are a bunch of doors at the end of the hall...my master and guest bath on the right, and DD's room, guest room on the left. So, there would be no place to put pics down there. ahhh, so much to think about! lyban-WOW! see...I know that *I* love to look at family photos in someone's home. I can totally see why people would want to look at the walls of your hall! Ok, now tell me, and explain very slowly....how did you laminate on wood? I am not a crafty type of girl. Is this easy to do? Did you do it for any reason...as opposed to just framing? I am enjoying this thread and all the help. Thank you again...this is great fun for me!...See Moreentryway hallway ideas
Comments (9)I'd probably do a rectangular rug just inside the door to define the entry and a matching or coordinating runner down the length of the hallway, stopping at the door. It doesn't have to be an exact length but bigger is better than smaller. You just want something to grab the eye and ground the space....See MoreLoooong hallway - help!
Comments (19)Hi Joanie, I would probably start by getting rid of the hanging lantern/light fixtures as I see you already have recessed lighting and add sconces instead if you need more light in the hallway as you do not get any natural light. I would keep the color palette in light tones, whether it’s paint or wallpaper, to brighten up the space, or if you like more of a moody vibe, you can definitely do dark tones. This depends on your personal aesthetic as well as what you already have going on throughout your home to make sure it all looks cohesive. I would also opt for large scale art work for the walls so it looks more proportionate to the space. Assuming that you are not doing any structural changes and can’t move that closet door at the end, I would consider replacing it with a sliding door or pocket door. Lastly, I would also consider a runner to make the space feel complete and add depth and dimension. I offer complimentary initial consultations. Feel free to inquire about it. :)...See Morehallway decor ideas
Comments (13)My impression is this hallway is very long & wide - will you please list length x width of each section? My initial thought is that each section of hallway should be treated as separate ’rooms’. First room - entry foyer - looks like another hallway off of it. Without knowing dimensions of any of the spaces here’s my thoughts. Move bench to foyer / entry hall - maybe under item on wall. Is there a ceiling light? If yes, change to a hanging light similar to the one in 3rd section from entry. Add an area rug with lots of color & as large as will fit space. Center section - change console to a much longer cabinet style & hang a large piece of art. Don’t know what’s down that hallway but it’d be great to see the art from there. The last hallway with the mirrored wall - I think two chairs, a table between & another piece of large art on the wall. Add an area rug in this space too - maybe same as what’s at entry. I like @housegal200 idea of moving the sofas to create an open walkway & connection to that seating space....See MoreRelated Professionals
