Ashley Furniture Store
Comments (27)I bought a recliner in the Greenwood Indiana store on March 13 shortly after moving to the area and due to my rural location I opted to have the item delivered. My phone number changed during this time but Ashley had my correct Internet email address. The whole of March went by without a delivery or contact with Ashley. Finally, I went down to the Greenwood store on April 9 and gave them my current phone number. On Wednesday April 13 they called and told me they would be there between 3 and 6 pm Thursday. Waited around all day Thursday till after 6 pm. Nothing. No delivery, no phone call, nothing. Called up Friday mornoing, April 15. Was assured delivery would be between 3-6pm that day, Friday. Had to do things so arrived back at my place a few minutes after 3. Found a door hanger that Ashley had been there but missed me. A call to the number on the door hanger yielded the info that the delivery person had waited an hour and left the hanger at 3:08 pm. If so, he arrived at my place well outside the 3-6 pm window. Called Ashley and they said the "window" was just a suggested time. How about the truth- that you should stay at your house all day to wait for the delivery? At least you won't get people pissed off that way. Now my stuff won't be delivered until Wednesday April 20 even though it was paid for in full March 13. I read the contract, and even though Ashley's performance has been abysmal, I can't get a refund. Bullsh*t. Because of this company's lackadaisical attitude towards customer service, they will get no repeat service. I for one will never spend another dime with them. And I will tell everyone I know who is contemplating a purchase with Ashley Furniture of my experience. In five years they will be gone and people will say "Ashley who?" Bottom line: If it's not in stock and they want you to order it, don't spend your money there. In manufacturing, this is known as JIT (just-in-time) ordering. That means it isn't built until it's ordered. Fine for manufactiuring but terrble for retailing. The merchant is fully protected, and the customer bears all the responsibility and consequence. Bottom line: Ashley Furniture are crooks!...See MoreHelp Me Update with Paint! (pics)
Comments (20)I would envision this house with white trim on the window surrounds and baseboards, and then would choose a light, grayed neutral for the walls. This way you have great freedom with your art and furnishings and can make this an eclectic space where the pieces your husband loves will just be an interesting part of the whole, rather than a main future. Your wood floor and beautiful rug are a great start and I think this house could be made interesting and exciting with large, colorful pieces of art and great furniture and accessories. The colors you've posted can be iffy with the traditional furniture and don't really provide the neutral background that I'm thinking of. Michael J. Smith (the future White House decorator) has very good examples of this approach in his book "Elements of Style". He keeps his wall colors very subtle and classy and goes on from there to make dramatic and wonderful rooms. I think your house has great potential. I sense you're not in love with the colors you've chosen. My choice would be a light, grayed-cream color that will look contemporary and will never be dated and then really express yourself with the style you love. I suspect the elements you don't care for will provide an interesting counterpoint and will no longer take center stage....See MoreWhat to Charge Home Buyers For Furniture?
Comments (31)"if you look on Ebay or even Craigs List they get much more money." Experience has shown me that when you post something for sale on Craig's List, potential buyers will immediately offer half of your asking price. So I try to figure out what I want to sell the item at, and then double that price. So don't use Craig's List prices as an indication of what things are selling for there. Usually the final price is much, much lower. Try tracking some furniture for a few weeks, and see what gets sold. Stuff that is priced too high, with sellers who will not budge on the price, hangs around for weeks. Buyers will always see the item as worth much less than you do. They don't know the original cost, or the care you put into it. They see a used item that they feel they should get very cheaply....See Morelooking for mid century settee
Comments (180)it's a doggie door. it can be amazing and also very annoying. Maggie the Airedale is always half out the doggie door so her butt is in a lot of my photos. we call it "butt bombing" haha Julie! I could not have done this with out your amazing skills and tracking down perfect dining chairs. My husband and I thought we would never agree on a set :) :) I have learned so so much! Now on to the bedroom, and then the entry way and dog grooming/yoga studio!...See Moreclapp53
