Should I buy this bench cushion sofa?

I love the look of single bench cushions, but fear sagging and wrinkles. This sofa won't get a lot of use--just me and an occasional guest. It's been on the showroom floor for over a year and still looks good. It also has straps to hold down the ends. Is there anything I need to be aware of or questions I should ask? La-z-boy wants $150 for fabric protection. That seems high to me. Is it? Here's the sofa:

Depends on the construction of the cushion fill plus the construction of the seat that supports the cushion. If the retailer will provide that info? But I wouldn't make that decision without knowing the exact construction used.

I also have a sofa with a cleaning code of S. Been very careful to not use water to clean. Bought a bottle of solvent online to clean some grease and blue something (maybe ink smudge or freeze pop color). Totally did not work! And it looked worse because it left "watermarks" wherever I tried it. Called my dry cleaner for advice to see if they could help. They said use oxyclean (the powdered kind for your laundry) diluted with WATER (I forget the ratio). Removed and hand-washed cushion covers with it, and used a spray bottle and clean cloth to blot other spots. Worked like a charm... I won't make any promises about how it will work for you, but I was left with little option.

Nice to look at when they are fluffed and not sat in. Prone to stretch wrinkles in the middle when used, both fabric and leather. Can "Wing up" on each end when sat on in middle, request elastic clip ties be installed on the ends (2 attach points, each end). If inside length is greater than 52" expect two seams in fabric unless material is railroaded. Many of the better companies will custom make a 1-piece bench seat upon request for a small upcharge on sofas they show as 2 or 3 cushion. I do at least five to six a year like that. - Duane Collie

I was able to sit on the sofa before the stores closed in the previous months which is how I know I want the upgraded cushions. I would really prefer a reverisible chaise so I could swich from left to right if I wanted to but they don't offer that. This style comes in a sofa so I could get a seperate ottoman like suggested but the sofa only goes to 103" which I think would be too short for the space. It would cost $2,635. These prices are after the current 15% off sale. How long of a sofa should I be looking for?

Given you don't know what future apartments will look like, or more importantly what dimensions of future rooms will be, I'd recommend against the sectional you linked. It seems that at least once or twice a week people post here seeking help on how to build a room around a sectional that just doesn't fit the space. A comfortable sofa and a chair with an ottoman will give you more flexibility in the future.

rmanbike, I'm heading out to La-z-boy to ask those questions. I'm also looking at this one from Havertys. http://www.havertys.com/furniture/parker-sofa It's made in America. They say it has "Zigzag-shaped sinuous (or no-sag) springs." The red flag is that this is an attached cushion so it can't be turned. But, as I mentioned before, it won't get heavy use. Any thoughts? Also, I'm still wondering if $150 for fabric protection (La-z-boy) is a bit steep for one piece of furniture.

$150 sounds a bit high. I'll just say that "made in America" is enough for me. I am tired on the China junk
