Have: Hosta Seedlings &+++ Want: Classic Shade Plants

Hello!!! I have lots of baby hostas around my huge hostas - they self sow extremely well, apparently. I don't know if they will always be green, of if they will develop to look more like their parents, but right now they are little green baby hostas! Take a look at my idea book for pics of the huge hostas I have. I also have Fire Bug iris, no id purple iris, yellow blooming lamium cuttings, double orange and tall red and South Seas daylilies, and there's tons of seed packets from trades I want to purge. I have some cool houseplants - rooted Streptocarpella cuttings, rooted Christmas cactus cuttings, epis, Ric Rac cactus, rooted Sanseviaria cuttings, calla lilies, a couple bulbs of Peruvian Daffodil to spare, and more.

I am looking for classic shade plants. I especially want lungwort, sweet woodruff, bleeding heart, helleborus, variegated Soloman's Seal, Ostrich fern, pink blooming and purple blooming lamium, and lady's mantle. I also collect Columbine, and there are several varieties I would love to have; I would take seeds or plants of Columbine.

This is the blue and lt green. If you look close, ALL those tiny tiny green leaves are baby hostas. I hate to kill them. There are a few larger ones in the pic, too. I also have a light edged huge hosta that has babies around it, too. I don't know the names to either hosta, I wish I did, if you know it, tell me! Take a look at my idea book for more pics. I'm most interested in trading for classic shade plants.

Hi,

I am very interested in your Streptocarpella cuttings.

My gardens are 95% sun, so I don't have a lot of shade plants to offer. However, I also collect Columbine and I have a ton of seed from my garden last summer. All of my Columbine are planted together and they were open pollinated. I take all of my seeds and clean them together, so there will be a mix of all the hybrids I have. I have a ton of neat ones including pink Granny's bonnets, 'Magpie', different colored Winky, 'Lime Sorbet', yellow swallowtail, and a bunch of others. I can send a couple of packets.

I'd feel bad just to send seeds though. Do I have a houseplant to swap that you'd be interested in? I have rooted pups of both normal Sansevieria trifasciata and Sansevieria trifasciata 'Laurentii', as well as nice plants of Alsobia dianthifloria. The Alsobia is related to the Streptocarpella and the care is very similar. It gets pretty white ruffled flowers. I'd be willing to throw a packet or two of seeds in with the plant.

Oh, geez, now I gotta have Alsobia dianthifloria, and I was trying to slim down on houseplants, LOL! Nah, what's going on is I have made all these cuttings for trade and they're not going as fast as I thought, and my houseplant collection has grown quite a bit, so I do need to get rid of some. I kick them all out of the house when the weather is nice, bring them back in during winter, and my husband had to build me a plant stand this past winter! :-) I'd love to do a trade for Columbine seeds and Alsobia dianthifloria!!! I would be willing to send you some mixed hosta seeds, some unknown columbine seeds, and some unknown foxglove seeds for you to try out. If you're interested let me know so I can email you my address for a SASE Some other seeds to look for would be heuchera, lamium, hellebore, toad lily, and primrose. Your first hosta looks like Francis Williams, or possibly Olive Bailey Langdon. The second one might be First Frost, but that's just one possibility.

Hello! Hailing from Ohio as well! I have tequila sunrise columbine seeds, I also have a little leftover from one of my double purple and whites (not sure which but I have pics somewhere of both). They should be blooming soon so I can get more then. I also have some NOIDs I haven't seen them bloom yet I got them in a trade (for some reason I'm remember maroon but I could be totally wrong). Also... My mom has a regular bleeding heart, while she is unwilling to divide yet since she just planted last year, I am taking cuttings for myself (I read late summer is the best time to take them) I would be more then willing to take some cuttings for you as well to try if you are interested in that. That would be later in the year so something to think about if you don't find any before then. =)

I also have a ton of this other hosta that is all green with narrower, pointy leaves that I would like to trade off.

Still have lots of seedlings of both huge hostas, which I think are Sagae and Fancis Williams.

Also have houseplants to trade, yellow-blooming lamium, and "South Seas" daylily and "Fire Bug" iris.

I would like classic shade plants or more hostas.
