It might be a variegated Acanthus (Bear's Breeches), such as A. 'Whitewater'. The early leaves are not always lobed, especially if grown in deeper shade.

I believe it's the other way around :-) Farfugium japonicum used to be known as Ligularia tussilaginea but was reclassified about 25 years ago.
