Electrical panel in bathroom - X post from Bathrooms
Comments (5)G'day, Aussiepete- I'm also a Pete who was/is an Aussie -well I was born in Canada but lived in Australia and NZ most of my adult life. I have a copy of the BC electrical code, simplified - if you went to your local Home Hardware, you may be able to get a version for your own province, or from a student bookshop where they teach electrical trades. I will go out on a limb and say this should be the same for your province, since I believe they're working on a national code for Canada (except, maybe Quebec? - a little separatist humour there) Rules 6-206 2-308(1) and 26-402 state that "nor should it (the service panel) be in bathrooms, clothes closets, stairwells, kitchen cabinets or similar places. So I guess you'll have to think of something else - I wonder, though, if constructing a utility closet WITHIN a bathroom would be acceptible, but keep in mind, you want room to work in there. Maybe you should go to wherever it is you go to book an inspection and ask their advice. I'm sure they would be happy to make suggestions, after all at least initially (but be ready to submit and be inspected when you build it) you won't be doing any wiring work, you just (quite rightly) don't want to violate the code (potentially having to remove or rectify the work later)...See MoreWolf porcelain chipping issue - just ovens or ranges too? x-post
Comments (12)If you would have asked me in March, I loved my Wolf range too. It still functions extremely well but I just cant use the oven anymore. How far out is JD Powers asking about satisfaction? After a year or two or more? Wolf is claiming DECADES of service. It is one thing to be happy after a few months and another to be happy after 5 or 10 years. The long term is harder to find out about. I used to work for a place that got a JD Power award and in our particular case, nothing to do with appliances, it really didn't mean much except it was something to advertise. There were others that provided services that were more extensive and higher level of technology in some cases and they didn't have the award. Satisfaction awards are often perception than reality. If you notice in many service companies customers are asked to leave a 5 star rating or coached by the service provider to ratings companies. The 2012 JD Powers survey has Viking right behind Wolf. That alone should speak volumes about the quality of the survey. JD Powers They don't even indicate how their ratings are obtained for these appliances or what questions were asked. I have talked to some people in various aspects of the appliance business that think it is under reported because there are people that just pay to have the liner replaced and don't consider it a problem, some people never see chipping or if they see it just don't do anything about it and there are many people who never use their appliances. My son is a plumber in a lot of homes and confirms that last one. He always asks owners about their appliances, especially high end. But none of that matters to me. One reason I bought Wolf WAS the way they treated their customers in the past based on others experiences. There are many accounts of this on the appliance forum. The way they treated me is a change. I have benefited and learned from what others post I am posting my experience as well. Take it for what it is -one person's experience. There are plenty of people that will buy it anyway. It is interesting Dee that you feel you have to defend Wolf....See MoreExceptional customer service from Wolf
Comments (6)I have had a very poor experience with Wolf. My range had the chipping blue enamel that I found at 4.5 years. They first told me it was normal but after a lot of haggling the would pay for the part but would not tell me how much to install it. The part only would only be guaranteed for a year. If you read the appliance forum you know this has been an ongoing issue with some people having multiple ovens affected. One person went through three ovens so I did not feel confident in reinvesting. The oven is only usable for covered food without convection to avoid any glass shards getting in food. "Decades of service"-not in my experience. "empowered to resolve any issues you may have to your true satisfaction" Sadly this did not happen....See MoreX-post from Appliances: DACOR gas range
Comments (21)Linelle, I've looked at vintage ovens on eBay esp. since I"m a big believer that stuff was made much better "back then", so I"m not surprised you have a 12-year-old range you love. I called the link gracefullyaged gave me. Very friendly, and he's going to check on the burner sizes on the FiveStar for me, so I'm not giving up on that one yet. crl, I've noticed the NXR ranges and did see them on Costco. I'll take another look. I'm remembering Costco didn't have the 30" I need, or something like that, or they had a fifth burner...can't recall, but your comment will spur me to action again! As an aside, the kitchen floor tiles are just about done. He'll finish with that today and come back and grout On Saturday. It's gorgeous. Interesting, it is a kitchen floor that looks like you'd be crazy to eat off it! Lol. Based on brick from Chicago, so has all the authentic soot and grime and dirt look of city brick! Lol....See Morewekick
