Buehl, The trash holder is 9" deep. Fori, We are having a 6" high full extension pullout shelf made for the bottom of our basement vanity. I'd originally wanted a bottom drawer (with the sink base doors above it), but the carpenter pointed out that to balance with the 11 1/2" deep drawers on the two sides of the base, it would be mighty tight fitting in an undermount sink and plumbing, etc. DH is DIY all the plumbing, so he will make sure it's high enough to clear the shelf. No pictures yet, as the vanity hasn't been completed. I will line the pullout with Life liner as I did under the sink in the kitchen. We've already had a wee link (some connection was loose), and the life liner caught it! Whew! BTW, now that I've finally ordered my custom made vanity, it seems like there are vanities popping up all over the place with bottom drawers under the sink!!! Where have they been for the past year? I was just a little ahead of the game!

john - why not just divert a stream into the house? Ten you could wash dishes and take a bath in it, have nothing to clean up and have a WAAAAAY cool conversation piece. palimpsest - as far as I know those units are not available in North America. I almost brought one back from Europe, twice for a terrace level bar. Just ended up redoing the whole elevation in the end though. You can always order one up and import it yourself if you REALLY want one. lyvia - I think that KitchenAid combo was discontinued but don't hold me to it. I also seem to recall there was a problem or some sort of really annoying use issue with the DW part. Anyway - I don't think that would help out john anyway since one could fit an 18" wide conventional DW and a pretty wide sink in the same floor space that thing takes up while not gaining that much storage underneath either. Ditto what fori said.

My kitchen is now 5 days old (haven't had time to take pics yet..too much time here instead!). I chose to have the garbage under my sink, instead of using up precious cabinet space. I have made 3 trips to Lowe's Rev-a-Shelf aisle because of a few things I did not consider before: 1) new 10" deep sink limits the height of the trash can I can use 2) hot water pipe limits the depth of the trash can I can use 3)left side of cabinet is totally unusable for trash due to 1 & 2 plus dishwasher drain hose from Bosch DW literally cuts the cabinet size in half (sigh!). My GC says he can call the plumber back "in a few weeks" to change all the plumbing around "for his hourly fees", but at this point I don't have the $$$ or the patience any more. I ended up buying the smallest Rev-a-shelf trash to fit the 16"deep space on the right. So, in summary, KUDOS to you for anticipating this issue before your plumbing is in. There are alot of after-market kits available, some much nicer than the small, cheap one I ended up with. Good Luck! Diane

Something no one has mentioned yet....wall ovens, regardless of placement, generally vent out the front. Ovens in ranges vent out the top. (1) How is it to stand in front of an undercounter mounted wall oven while cooking (when under a cooktop)? I would think the hot vented air would be an issue.... (2) Someone mentioned venting...if it vents out the front, your vent hood is not going to do you much good unless it sticks out at least 3 inches beyond the front of the oven (which puts it 3" beyond the countertop). Even then, if you're standing in front of it (to cook), it's probably still not much good. Just more things to think about!
