Quick -- need plant ideas for around pool
Comments (3)Hi Kath - your pool is coming along beautifully. I love that you have the swim jets at one end. We have similar amount of space around our pool, and we are in San Diego (Sabre Springs - same climate as you, I'm sure). We are palm-heavy (my husband likes them), but have many surrounding plantings; most of our lower plants are society garlic, verigated ginger, azailias, and dwarf philodendrons. Although the philodendrons are kind of tropical, you can line them up and make them look pretty structured, if you want a more formal look. Same with the society garlic. But they both fill in beautifully, and the pool water doesn't bother them. Be careful of bees when you're planting so close to the pool. We used wood chips in our dirt (similar to the area at the swim jet end of your pool) and we have had zero problem with the chips flying into the pool....See MorePool around above ground deck...can we do this?
Comments (3)Honestly it is doable. I just did one based on reading the code from my town and youtube!! Its going to be alot of work and it will take some time but its definitely doable and alot cheaper to do it yourself. Just make sure you contact the town who will inspect your footings before and after you pour the concrete then after that its just connecting wood together and cutting and ensuing you have the correct galvanized ties and alike. Good luck though - if i can do it you can too!...See MoreNeed help planting around an above ground pool
Comments (0)I've just put in a 54" above ground pool. Now I'd like to plant some shrubs - especially to hid the filtration system but not too large. The site is in partial shade. Any suggestions?...See MoreNeed advice for mixing materials in pool decking
Comments (1)It's really up to you to decide if the colors and textures will work for your setting. From your drawing, I think it looks quite logical. Travertine surrounds the pool, and pavers make up the outer areas. I was budget conscious when I built my pool. 20' by 40', part of the package included a 3' wide ribbon of KoolDeck around the pool. The next year I poured a slab around that and topped the slab with mortared down stone. I figured that somewhere, in a land far away, if I ever had to renovate the deck I'd yank the Kool Deck and replace it with more stone and stone coping. Over a decade has passed and I haven't touched a thing......See MoreYardvaark
