Sick Weeping Willow tree - please help

Casey

I am hoping someone can help me with what appears to be a sick or dying weeping willow tree. This tree has taken a hit over the last couple of winters with a couple of different ice storms. I removed the damaged branches as much as I could. This seemed to have generated some new growth so I felt really good about it living and eventually filling back in. However, this spring I have noticed the bark appearing to separate from the tree at the base of the trunk. You can push on the outside of the bark and it gives like there is space behind it. More so on the right side of the trunk than the left. I have also noticed some holes in the trunk from insects. If someone could please help me to understand what may be going on so I can maybe help this tree I would be so grateful. I love this tree as it sits right next to a pond and is a highlight of our property. I tried to upload pictures but could not get them to work. I will keep trying. Thank you so much in advance.
