noxious weeds
Comments (1)Need to know where you live to help. If you live in Anchorage the answer will be different than if you live in Panama. You don't necessarily need to use chemicals to renovate a yard. Will need to know what kind of grass you want and if shade is involved. In the mean time the best thing you can do for your dogs and soil is to cover the ground with several inches of shredded bark mulch. Dogs seem to like mulch well enough. It will absorb all the urine you can splash on it. You can bury the poop in it if you want to. It helps keep the underlying soil moist until you get around to grass again. I would start with 2 inches of mulch. And it is usually easy to pull weeds out of loose mulch as long as you get the weed pulled before the root digs into the underlying soil. You can do your weeding with a hoe....See MorePlease Help Identify Weed or Keeper?
Comments (3)The first two are definitely a weed, though I don't know its name. I have done the same as you, let that plant grow into the large sprawling thing you have there in hopes that it was some sort of volunteer beauty, but no, it's not. It has flowers, but they are insignificant, and the plant, while not as unattractive as some, is just not anything you want in your flower bed. The good news is that it is not a particularly noxious weed. At least around here (Southern CA) it doesn't reproduce that wildly. Just pull it out. The third photo looks like some kind of wild geranium; that is, a true geranium, not a pelargonium. At least around here, those are quite nice to have....See MoreMoonflower & Morning Glories...Pretty Flowers or Noxious Weeds??
Comments (9)I have both, the moonflowers aren't too bad but i've found morning glory seedling all over my yard. But it isn't a big deal. I actually dig up the earth around them and transplant them somewhere else they might look good. This year I even found two in my container, carrot garden. How they got there I have no idea. But they are bothso pretty it is worth planting. You will know the morning glory seedling when you see it. Just pluck it up and transplant or break it up and throw it down....See MorePlease help me ID this weed/wildflower/surprise plant
Comments (3)WELL...last night someone on name that plant forum indicated that it was called Yellowrocket, which led to finding that it is probably a very close relative of Yellowrocket: Wild Radish. Whis is a very close relative to Wild Mustard :-) The only reason it can't be Yellowrocket is because the stems and leaves have tiny hairs, which indicates it is Wild Radish. However. I have seen pics of Wild Radish now on Google Images that don't look like this plant, and some that show Yellowrocket looking dead-on accurate, save for the leaves. Ha. At any rate, I'm pulling them up...tis' not to be... Thanks so much for your help, timbu and fammsimm. Now I am also familiar with two other kinds of weeds, so if I spot them, I'll know right away :-) Joanna...See Morefloral_uk z.8/9 SW UK
