Decisions, decisions, can't make up my mind!
Comments (21)I already have longissima x clausa var. normalis Purple Ladyfinger, which doesn't open. I ordered clausa last yer, but it was canceled due to deer crop mutilation. Jim's lists it as just clausa, but HL says also known as clausa var. clausa. So going for it. HL says LBS is chartreuse gold. Is that wrong? Do you grow it? "10" tall. Part Sun to Light Shade. Our new introduction is an open pollinated seedling from the giant H. 'Sum and Substance'. The 5" wide heart shaped leaves emerge dull green, and soon change to a nice chartreuse gold. About this time, the jet black scapes emerge that contrast well with the foliage. The 2' wide clumps are topped with 22" scapes of medium lavender flowers." from HL database Also found Peedee Absinthe and Oharra which might work for that spot.???? Ok per predominating advice, I think I'll skip Super Nova. Don't even like dogs, lol! Haha spring is coming, Ken, days are getting longer. And you are right, a piece of carp is a piece of carp but not sure what fish have to do with hostas! ;) Unless you bury one under the plant......hey, it works for corn! I think Raspberry Sorbet may be back in, it's cheap and I have a good spot for it. Still going for Raspberry Sundae too tho....See MoreI can't make one more decision!! Hood rec PLEASE??
Comments (4)I have to respectfully contradict Beatrix that induction doesn't need as much cfm's. Actually, the cfm's needed to capture and exhaust grease and smoke are a function of the the power of your cooking whether it be via gas, electric or induction. So if, e.g., you're going to be wok cooking, or frying steaks, or something like that, it doesn't matter that you'll be doing it on an induction cooktop when trying to figure your cfm's. What matters is exhausting that grease and smoke properly given how much power you're using. As to fan noise, the biggest contributor to fan noise is the air turbulence through the ductwork, not the fan itself. If the OP has many bends in his/her ductwork, or the ductwork is quite long, or is too narrow for the fan's specs (e.g. the specs ask for 10", but his/her ductwork is 6"), the noise will be bad, regardless of what brand the fan is or, or how much it costs. Having said that, I like the VAH (Vent-a-Hood). On other manufacturers' baffle or mesh filter designs, there is air turbulence as the air runs in and out of the baffles or meshes. The VAH "Magic Lung" design avoids that. But again, if there is problematic ductwork, the VAH would be noisy too. Some people don't like the VAH cause they believe it is harder to clean than baffles. I have a VAH, and think the cleaning is easy--just pop off the blower housing and put in dishwasher. But I have read here that others have found that to be more difficult. Comments (6)If you want to raise your daughter, and especially if you want to have another child, I think you ought to think seriously about staying home, even part time. The reasons you list for continuing to work pale in comparison to the things you gain by staying home to raise your kids. Your house is only 26 years old- that's relatively young for a house. Even after remodeling, is it dangerous or hazardous to live in, or is it a quality of life issue? I think in 50 years, looking back, you'll be much happier if you get to look back on raising your own children, even if it was done in a house that wasn't perfect. Besides, you can move in a few years, once your second child is going into preschool or kindergarten and you're back at work. Maybe at that point you'll be able to find a home in the district you're currently in. Or you may have to switch schools, but as long as you're in the same area, your kids will still be able to see old friends and life will go on. Your quality of life will only be compromised for the first few years. Your husband will probably get a raise or a bonus, and in the meantime, you'll definitely find ways to save money. Eliminating fast food and eating in resturants is a very very easy way to cut down on expenses- at one point, when our son was very young and we were very tired, we found we were spending up to $600 a month just on eating in restaurants and eating lunches out. There will always be things in life that you want, and will be out of reach unless you continue to work. a nicer car, an nicer house, etc. but your kids will only be little once....See MoreWhen you can't make a decision?
Comments (43)So many great comments here- and helpful too. Joaniepoanie absolutely. I can so relate to that with the bathrooms. It's not that I want to settle to get it done, but yes you now have the bathrooms looking way better than they and you can just enjoy that. (and yes if the dream accessories materialize you can change). I did link the original thread for my kitchen back in here but I think I might just start a new one to see any input because I am ready to decide after having mulled this over for months.........and then I will say my decision will be made by Tuesday. Jakabedy YES to you as well. I find sometimes getting started is the key. I think a part of me is/was hoping to be bowled over by an option that is clearly THE one but in most instances I am considering, there are really more than one very fine option. Given my ridiculously overly cautious and analytical nature I keep researching and what if ing and so on. I am trying very hard (very very hard) to just make a few decisions and go from there. I know when it's all said and done, I will feel a lot better....See Moremama goose_gw zn6OH
