You can buy seeds -- they are readily available in late winter - early spring or on line. You can get a variety of mixed colors or solid colors, usually bright blue or red, or bi-colors - solids striped with white or white a white picote edge. The seeds are really hard... when I plant them, I use a piece of sandpaper to rough up one end of a seed and sprout them on a soggy paper towel in a saucer of water. It can take 2-3 days or longer, and weeks if you don't roughen an edge. When you plant, don't fertilize or you'll end up with elephant-sized leaves and no blooms. Another similar plant to consider is moonflower (Ipomoea alba) which has fragrant white blooms in the evening that last all night. I plant the two together - morning glories bloom during the day and moonflowers bloom open in the evening. It's a nice combination.

This one is really bugging me because it's so distinctive but I can't figure it out. It looks a lot like bitter melon, but is quite different. Could be another Curcubitaceae, but the fruit looks Solanaceae... Is there a woody part to the vine? And could you take a picture of a flower? Update us when the fruit is ripening.

It is in northeastern pa in my garden. We live in the woods, zone 5a. All of it is on the ground with its roots in a hole left behind by a dead butterfly bush. I didn't plant it. It radiates in a circle approximately 10 feet in each direction. It is in full sun. I also see tiny white blossoms.

Can you get a closer picture? I can’t see the leaf shape clearly but they look heart shaped. But it doesn’t look like Parthenocissus tricuspidata. It would also help to know where it’s growing, geographically.
