What is going on with my climbing rose bushes?

I planted these two rose bushes last week, they're called 'Cancan' climbing rose..and today I see the leaves looking like this..just wanted to know if that's shock from transplanting them, or from water possibly getting onto them from sprinkler, or from the ridiculous unseasonably hot weather we've had since I've planted them? It had been 80-85 every day..one bush gets constant sun, the other gets morning sun until about 10-10:30 then again around 1 pm til sun set.

Yellow leaves with spots--probably blackspot disease. If they were shipped in a box, blackspot often develops during shipping.

In the second picture, the brown dry leaves on the right are probably sunburned from transplant shock (which just means it wasn't able to take up enough water). Leaves curled and wilted, same deal. Give them some shade.

Star jasmine will completely cover a fence. It will appear to be a hedge. This will take a good amount of water, but so would a rose. If you want another rose option, 'Secret Garden Musk Climber' would probably be faster than 'Iceberg' to cover a fence. Blooms maybe even more than 'Iceberg', and fragrant too. Blooms much better than 'Sally Holmes'. Other vines that will cover a chain link fence are Lavender Trumpet vine, Clytostoma callistegioides, or another trumpet vine called 'Tangerine Beauty', Bignonia capreolata. These are faster and somewhat easier than Star Jasmine, and with a longer blooming period. It's a good idea to cut vines like these completely to the ground every 5 or 6 years so they don't get too woody and leafless at the bottom. As much as I love roses, they are not the solution for every spot in the garden. Look at the star jasmine in the upper left hand corner of the photo. See the fence? No? That's what it does. Same for the other vines. Thanks for that link, roseseek.

Thank you all... and I am in Northern VA... near Manassas and Connie.. I am dieing to come out and visit your place sometime.. sounds devine!!!!!!! I ordered more roses.. where to put all these roses.. I havent a clue now.. LOL/ guess after having them reserved.. I can cancel some.. shoot.. I just ordered and kept on ordering.. I think they died.. or one did, started moving them around due to one of the edens from my memory- just simply started to dry out.. it was soooo strange, no matter how much it was watered it was as if it wasnt absorbing the water, moved it.. but it turned black!!!, and I also have a abrahmam darby, and double delight. But then again moved flowers around mid summer, to see if they would do better in a different location.. etc/ and I dont know what flower is what.. LOL, that'll be next summer with everyone here, snapping photos and asking what these are.. hehehhe Thank you all for all your support.

Cori Ann , My husband got the wires half done last evening, but underestimated the amount of hardware he needed and has to make a trip back to the store this morning. (In Germany everything closes at 8:00) The wires are barely visible, so I’m happy. By the end of today I hope to have all tied up. In our area it rarely goes below about 30 degrees and when we get snow, it doesn’t stay more than a day or two. There are people around here successfully growing palm trees in their yards. My roses didn’t lose all their leaves. Do you mean you take the leaves off by hand? How do you do that? It sounds impossible now that I’ve seen your pictures.

It's not Dr. Huey. Imagine budding with those thorns! Whether it is a climber or just something that wants to be tall doesn't matter. Either way, it will resent hard pruning and sulk. Not pruning it this year is a perfectly valid experiment. It looks big enough that you could also try pruning part of it, and letting the rest do its thing. Something to keep in mind, is that a lot of large roses put out a main June flush, then don't do a great deal for the rest of the year. It is in their genetics, and there isn't much you can do about it.

I bought them at Home Depot, they didn't have any spots when I bought them

i can't see enough detail to be sure it is blackspot. Do most of the yellowing leaves have dark spots? A well-focussed closeup would help.

No just the few that you see..I pulled them off to be safe, not sure if that will matter

Yes, It is transplant shock and the 85 degrees we had. Yes it is from water from the sprinkler. The leaves can't be wet for more than 6 hours. That was an unusual stretch of weather we had. Yes, you have a little black spot I see on a few leaves. Welcome to the world of roses in the northeast.

Your roses look good!

Your roses are from a hybridizer man Will Radler from Wisconsin. You can make them work fine where you live.

The lower leaves yellowing is a sign of too much water.

Is it possible you over watered?

Only a week in the ground is too soon for water-logging damage to occur. Rather, there is too little water in the plant--even though the soil may be wet. Again, give them shade.

I read that when I see the flowers start to droop I've waited 1 day too long to water...the flowers are def not drooping at all yet...the second bush in pictures seems to be doing worse than first bush, it also has a bit of shade from a tree like I mentioned in the late morning idk if that could be why...there are some dry crunchy leaves on the bush as well

A little layer of compost will help your roses get through. You are doing good. Every thing is OK. The rose you are growing is a newer rose. Some of the nurseries where we live sell roses that dont work well in the Northeast. It is good to find a local nursery who selects plants that will work. I like the David Austin rose Alnwick Castle. If you search some posts on the roses forum , you can find some folks that have a rose they grow that has a good track record of growing in your area.
