Comments (1)Well, it's probably underpotted, meaning that the roots have run out of room (which is another cause of leaf-tip browning). When did you last perform root maintenance? Also, are you fertilizing? The lower yellow leaves seem to indicate a Nitrogen deficiency. Josh...See MoreHow to get plant to leaf-out / fill in
Comments (2)Your best course of action is to take cuttings next month, and restart the plant. It's under potted, and will do better if you move it up to a larger pot. They do tend to dry out easily, and often lose their lower leaves afterwards. I put mine out when it's a little warmer(around May here in PA), and keep it in shade for the summer. It likes the humidity, and I keep a eye on it in hot or dry weather so that it doesn't dry out. They will bloom in the fall for you. Good growing!...See MoreBest way to get a rose plant to leaf out
Comments (7)Any chances of posting some clear shots of the plant? That might help. Also, is the plant against a wall or fence, or fronted by a patio, side walk or other handscape? "Leggy" impresses me as insufficient sun, but you state yours receives full sun. I've found Julia likes being generally shaped, like you would shape a green landscape bush, instead of being "pruned" as one might a hybrid tea. The way it grows, you're going to have lots of "dog legs" as it doesn't throw the long canes topped by flowers like a hybrid tea does. It doesn't even put out growth like a traditional floribunda. Mine are all "bushy" because I don't "prune" them, but just shape them so they are rounded. They flower all over their surfaces. Comments (13)Hi Norma & Karen! I haven't been over here on the C&S forum much lately... Even though Denver's climate isn't too far off from ours, I have a feeling being 4000 ft. higher in elevation probably makes a difference in growing plants... Ed, when I "whack" mine back, I usually get pretty radical. I have one 'Skinny Fingers' (which I think is probably a clone of 'Gollum') that had gotten pretty heavy with foliage and out of shape, and I was ready to give it a good pruning. I kept putting it off, but then it got sunburned this spring, so it was time. This is the before photo, from a couple years ago... After a good whacking, new growth is coming mostly at the tips, but some down further on the branches... The best part is that the trunk will thicken now, too. By next year, your Jade should look fabulous if you give it enough sun. Denise in Omaha...See MoreAzqiasakti
