Comments (9)Soil temp. For peppers it's all about soil temp. It can be warm during the day to you but if it drops enough at night to let the soil temp stay low, those peppers are just gonna sulk and no amount of plant love is gonna change their minds. Face it, you planted too early so now you just get to wait. Of course you could get a soil thermometer and learn about soil temp and plant response while waiting. Don't worry about the blossoms. The plant will take care of them.......meaning probably abort them. Contrary to popular belief plants know what they're doing. It's us human who are the fools. The great part is our bigger brains allow us to recognize our mistakes when we make them again next year....See MoreTrim - Am I Being Too Picky
Comments (20)I don't think I've ever seen seamless mitered corners. What you have looks great to me. The limited Garden Web opinions fall to the side of too picky Limited? I didn't actually count, but I think upwards of 10 people said it looks good. Which means there are countless others that agreed and didn't bother to respond since it had already been said. Not one person agreed with you on here. How many people have you asked on-site? And remember that many friends and family may tend to agree with your opinion solely because they have no strong opinion and agreeing with you is the easier thing to do. Internet opinions can be tough to take because they are usually more blunt, but they are typically unbiased. Comments (23)oh dear. that wouldn't work for me. once I get moved, I never plan to move again - until they cart me off to the old ladies farm. that'll be soon I think...and I'm not moved yet! It's too much work! can't imagine doing another house again. If you do build, see if you can find a builder who uses Amish for carpenters. They do awesome woodworking. The builder for our addition back in the 70's (it was bigger than the original part) did - and it was done early and under budget! I doubt it'd ever be under budget again (I was too young and knew NOTHING back then). I sure was glad it was done early tho - I was due with my youngest son within wks. Of course, he ended up being 2 wks late - but that gave me more time to get the room ready for him. Anyway, I'd only build a house today if I KNEW absolutely for sure that I could trust the builder and his people to do everything correctly and to my liking. And that wouldn't happen. I don't need the stress. Are you moving to a different part of the country with this move?...See MoreHope I am not being too forward i.e. age? getting a pension?
Comments (64)Its 1 :25 am and I'm with the night owls. I was laid off at 66 and was dispirited. Looked for jobs, not much luck. So I accepted that unemployment was actually early retirement. Less than a year later a friend called about an opening in her agency in my field. It is a great fit: about 10-15 hours a week. I only go into the office (which is 20 minutes away) 1 x 2weeks, nearly everything can be communicated and documented by secure email and text. I miss the chatting life of more collegial time in an office, but I treasure setting my own schedule. As long as my patients get seen on time and my documentation and time sheets are on time no one 'bothers' me. I'm still contributing to society and (modestly) to family income. I have lots of time and flexibility for those ever increasing doctors' and physical therapy appointments. Gotta keep the mojo working if I want to work. My house is still a mess because neither dh nor I are neatniks and actually don't care a lot about "everything in its place". I mean, it would be nice, but it takes so much valuable time! Rouge, your days and nights will take on a shape of their own. You can nudge things however you want. Eventually a routine might emerge. My thoughts are: make new friends, keep up with old ones and participate in some sort of group activity: exercise class, bridge, book group, civic organizations. For me, they are a welcome change from being at home. I came across the seeds you sent months ago. Still in their little envelope, waiting for spring, like me.Marie...See MoreMass Imo
