Am I just being impatient???
Comments (13)OK guys . . . . After a brutal winter, I am wondering what is next for my lawn. Taking Tiemco's advice, I did a dormant KBG seeding just before we started getting snow. I think it was just before the Xmas storm. We have been completely snow covered here in CT and I am just beginning to see my lawn again. What I can see doesn't look promising, but I know the KBG wont begin to germinate until the soil temps warm up. As April approaches, what would you suggest as far fertilizer, pre-emergent (if any), etc. When the lawn was established (prior to my killing it and starting over), I would typically get a pre-emergent from Lesco and a spring fertilizer. Not sure if that is the correct process now with a young KBG lawn. Any suggestions? I know it is early, but I don't want to miss out when the thaw comes....See MoreAm I just being impatient?
Comments (9)Oh man! Im sorry to rub it in, everyone. I know most of you are just buried in snow, with no end in sight. If its any consolation, we have had rain. And rain. And rain. Snow for a minute. Then more rain. *yawn* Sooo boring. Yep the seeds are commercial. Botanical Interests, purchased in December. Im pretty sure they are viable. I'm just paranoid, since this is my first attempt and all. I must just learn to trust it! Heh..wouldn't that be something if that one little sprout was a weed. Imagine how foolish I would feel if I coddled that thing all through spring, planted it out, and it ended up spreading everywhere! Not that ANYONE here has done that before. *whistles* Steff ;)...See MoreMy Kitchen For Sale. I'll throw in a house and 1+ acre too.
Comments (23)oh dear. that wouldn't work for me. once I get moved, I never plan to move again - until they cart me off to the old ladies farm. that'll be soon I think...and I'm not moved yet! It's too much work! can't imagine doing another house again. If you do build, see if you can find a builder who uses Amish for carpenters. They do awesome woodworking. The builder for our addition back in the 70's (it was bigger than the original part) did - and it was done early and under budget! I doubt it'd ever be under budget again (I was too young and knew NOTHING back then). I sure was glad it was done early tho - I was due with my youngest son within wks. Of course, he ended up being 2 wks late - but that gave me more time to get the room ready for him. Anyway, I'd only build a house today if I KNEW absolutely for sure that I could trust the builder and his people to do everything correctly and to my liking. And that wouldn't happen. I don't need the stress. Are you moving to a different part of the country with this move?...See MoreAm I Being Too Cautious?
Comments (12)USDA inspected meat, whatever the source, is highly unlikely to be dangerous to eat. If it's graded (prime, choice, select, etc.) then the fat content is known, as well as anything else that contributes to the grade. There are the "extras" that don't belong in meat. Even when it doesn't have brine or whatever, I don't like like most packaged meat. I will buy some particular things from Trader Joe's, but their quality in terms of things like toughness isn't as good as I'd like and I really just use those for stopgaps. Mostly I buy from an actual butcher, though perhaps in a market, with whom I can discuss the meat, know its origins and production standards, etc. I don't know anything about Mexican practices that make them any worse than a lot of what is done in the U.S. My own preference is for local, grass fed. It costs a lot more, however. Many people have to settle for just safe to eat. Many people are glad to have any meat at all. Ritaweeda, I don't blame you for wanting to know who makes what you're getting. and how. It might not affect your decision in the end, but it's good to know. Are you being too cautious? Probably not. Just cautious. But it's the anonymity that would bug me, not that just it comes from Mexico....See MoreRelated Professionals
