Dishwasher: Bosch, Kitchen-Aid, or Kenmore version of these
Comments (13)I have had the issue with the damaged (thankfully returned to normal) cabinetry. My appliance dealer took back the KA after a month +/- of use based on this and let me pick anything I wanted to replace it. I picked a upper model Bosch, with the cutlery rack, and haven't regretted it one bit. This machine is quieter than the KA, I can fit more since the tines are closer together (I took my plates to the store with me before purchase to be sure they fit), and most important, it doesn't vent in to my cabinetry. I have linked my original thread on this issue, and some people say they have never had any moisture there, and these people also have their DW pulled out from the cabinetry, where I wanted a flush fit, which is what I thought you would get with a fully-integrated machine. I'm very happy with the Bosch. I was quite upset at first because I loved the KA with the exception of the vent issue, but we have all the rest of our KA appliances and we're happy with them. My best advice would be to buy from a reputable dealer who will stand by their product, and if needed, replace if you're not satisfied. Here is a prime example of why I switched. I placed this piece of paper in between the DW vent and my cabinet directly beside it on the left. This is what I got after a cycle. I think the fact that the repair technician from my appliance store who came out and said that our machine was functioning the way its supposed to and yes, indeed that IS a vent, is telling. KA customer service was not so helpful. Here is a link that might be useful: Vent issues......See MoreJennAir,KitchenAid,Miele,Thermador Help!
Comments (14)"Electrolux is pretty but is still a Frigidaire under the pretty." Electrolux OWNS Frigidaire not the other way around.Frigidaire is Elux's economy line! Does that mean they can't and don't make "Higher end" products?Of course not!!! I personally compared (3 of each) Miele ovens and Elux Ovens. The doors are thicker and smoother operating on the Elux's. Try pulling out a rack on both the Miele and the Elux, Only Now, is Miele beginning to use the glide out racks but I think only one is standard on their newest ones and you can buy the updated racks for the older ones now. Compare the display panel, The panel is much bigger , easier to read, and more intuitive on the Elux. The window glass is bigger and stays cooler than the Miele. Checks posts on performance of the two ovens. Elux uses actual temp sensors to tell when the oven has finished preheating, whilst Miele uses some kind of "Algorithym" if you check posts, you will see where some users say this "Algorithym" just doesn't work, when the Miele says it has finished it is no where near the temp you set it for. Read about the actual oven temps, Elux is right on the mark using any thermometer you wish. Reports here have said that the Miele can be as low as 50 degrees F from what you set it for, in fact one poster had the oven replaced and the new Miele still measured as her old one did. That can be dealt with using a "fudge factor" as far as baking goes, but is not necessary with the Elux, and in the rare even it is off by a few degrees, it can be calibrated via the wavetouch controls alto no users have posted the need to do so.The Elux is about half the price of the Miele! So Please read the various posts about the 2 ovens before typing such a statement as this: "Meile ovens are great and worth every penny." We've had the Elux Icon 30" oven/convection for more that 4 years now, trouble free, looks and cooks great, Antss and I are gonna "Do the Town" on the 2 grand I saved!! Comments (11)Oh My! So sorry for your troubles! Is the angle on the horizontal or vertical plane? I just re-mounted the cabinet panel for my 18" Bosch. The installers mounted it level with the adjacent drawers & doors, but it wouldn't open all the way! I took it off & moved it up, even though that made it stick up about a half inch past flush on the top. Even though it's "off" from the adjacent cabinets now, it covers the space under the granite much better. My point, however, is that the mounting to the dishwasher itself is templated, but almost infinitely variable if you need a horizontal adjustment. You may have to live with non-flush, but I'd pull out a tape measure & screwdriver & see what's causing that angle ?!? (Boy, am I tired of hearing "That's just the way it is. There's nothing we can do!")...See MoreDWs: Miele, Bosch, Kenmore or KitchenAid. Which one? help! xpost
Comments (21)So glad to see more people post their experience with their machines. Thank you! alexamorrie, good to hear you're happy with your Kenmore Elite. I liked our old DW but I have to admit that I also like the 3rd tray Bosch and Miele feature. We always have a lot of flatware, spatulas, knives and such, more than we could fit in the flatware baskets in our old machine. Our old Kenmore had a small, long basket at the back of the top tray that came in handy but the new Kenmores don't have that, unfortunately. Buehl, good to hear from another happy Bosch owner. Thanks for letting me know that your dishes fit. I'm familiar with Pfaltzgraff (our previous dishware was Pfaltzgraff) so I know it's roughly the same thickness as our current Fiestaware. Thanks, rococogurl, for answering my question. I don't know how often I'll fold tines down or lift sections out but it would be nice to have that flexibility. Thanks, somersetlass, glad to hear you liked your Mieles. I'm glad you've had good experiences with your KAs, catbuilder. Our Kenmore badged KA was great, the previous KA not nearly as good. That said, neither lasted much beyond 10 yrs. And that's just crazy! Seriously, when did a 10 yr appliance lifespan become the norm? Karenseb, glad to hear you're happy with your Bosch. I'd love it if you'd take a pic of it in action. I'm curious to know what you mean by " more versatile double sided utensil rack." Thanks! sjhockeyfan, I think our old DW had fold down tines that we never folded down. But since the tines on the Bosch and Miele aren't quite as generously spaced as our old Kenmore, it might be an issue for us when we wash casserole dishes and fry pans. I think I'll need to take another trip to the appliance store to look at the machines again. A2, you are awesome for posting a pic of your Miele DW in action! I can't believe how much you fit in it! Do you remember which model it is? You mentioned on your 3rd year anniversary thread that you had a service call on the machine. What was it for? Thank you, everyone!...See Moresjhockeyfan325
