It's quite all right to go off topic. It happens on almost every thread. I like the twists and turns. There's nothing negative, it's all about random acts of kindness and polite things people do.

It is the kitchen table after all and any lively conversation takes its twists and turns.

I completely agree with fran1523 (although we may both be incorrect). I view the kitchen table as if I was sitting down with a group of friends and a cup of coffee with a plate of cookies. Conversations never remain static, topics change and come back, go way off track and wind their way back. If one really wants to start a separate topic that option is always open.

Just like chatting with your friends, conversations twist and turn. Opinions are stated, discussions ensue and sometimes disagreements take place. It's what makes KT feel like home. Spilled milk and all.

There have been times where a new thread is started, particularly when someone wants to further explore a single discussion point but it certainly is not required.

I don't know if I would enjoy reading here if there were rules and protocol to follow. Just keep those hot topics mentioned on the KT banner page out of here!!

No! How the heck would that be controlled. I happened to be one of the posters that disagreed with another poster in that thread. Some of you agreed, some did not. We all have a right to express our opinions. What obviously isn't ok is when it gets ugly. Thankfully I have not seen that in quite some time.

It really shouldn't be so staid as to have rules. It's the kind of place for fuzzy slippers and kicked up feet on the coffee table. Sit back, relax, and regale me. I'll serve you up some coffee or a glass of wine, depending on the time of day.

My life has been filled with 'shoulds'. I think there is a trend IRL to have too many bosses, not enough workers.

Keep the KT casual.

It seems to me that sometimes things get so far off of the original topic that sometimes it's been referred to as having been high-jacked.

While I think that we should exercise some self-restraint, I wouldn't want a rulebook to follow.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I never meant for anything formal or regulated to occur. Just something to think about when reading a post.

Just wondering what others thought about veering off in Glenda's thread when all she wanted to do was share a good experience.

I only read the beginning of the thread, but Glenda seems to me so interesting that I don't think one could sit down with her and keep to one topic.

We all enjoyed Glenda's good experience. At least I did. Put a smile on my face.
