I have tried the Gain Apple Mango he liquid...and yes the scent is strong in the bottle (yet pleasant to me, as I like scent), after washing, rinsing and drying...the scent is very soft and non-offensive. I think Tide and Gain clean about the same. IMO, the only difference between the two P&G brands are different scents and colours of bottles!

Well I bought some Gain Apple Mango Tango... it is pretty strong! Not sure if I'll keep using it. I prefer Tide- I feel like if I wash and dry with Tide that the scent is very faint.

Gain is really more targeted towards scent, while Tide has more cleaning ingredients. Ultra Tide Stain Release seems to have the most capable formula - but if you're looking for little scent, I'd recommend one of the Tide Free versions.

^I see that now :) I think I'll just use the Tide F&G on everything except for really dirty stuff which I'll use the original liquid :)

The Persil Intense powder at Walmart has very good cleaning and a noticeable scent. It's neither Tide nor Gain, but might give you the best of both worlds. Gain is simply too strong for my liking. I think Tide has some decent but more subtle scent options with its pods (Botanical Rain, Ocean Mist, Alpine) and liquids. Alternately, if you're looking at more interesting fragrances, you can add in scent boosters - Downy Unstopables has a number of fragrances that you can add to the wash at whatever strength you want. I use these for our downstairs towels and pick different scents based on the season or who's coming over.

Might we assume that Gain is a more gentle detergent than Tide because it does not have the same cleaning ingredients? I would prefer something more gentle than Tide, powder or liquid. And I would test it to see if I reacted to it as well as I do to All Free & Clear. Speak to me.

Pat I love tide free powder. I use it on my asthmatic 6year olds ( grandson) clothing and bedding and his 7 yo brothers bedding who is not asthmatic but hates a scent on his bedding and teddy bears lol. The tide free powder is the only detergent I've found that doesn't cause a problem with chips asthma yet it cleans very good. I have a lot of different detergents but some of the so I may be able to give my opinion if you name a few you may be interested in. Also in what way do you mean gentle, scent free, less enzymes ??

I must be tired my last sentences made no sense..I ment if you have any you are interested in I may be able to give my opinion.

A lady I know was having a lot of allergy problems. She went to see an allergist and have test and during this he ask her what kind of detergent she used. She told him Gain,he said it contains the most allergy causing ingredients of any brand and told her to use the All Free/Clear and that really helped her. But also, my brother in law has allergies really bad and his allergist ask him what detergent he used and he said Tide. He said to throw it away and use nothing but the All F&C. But maybe the Tide cleans just as well(or better??). I like the All and get the powder most time when I buy All F&C. Cheer doesn't bother me and I like it the most for colors.(powder)

Hi sparky, I've used all f/c it worked ok for me I think tide free powder has more enzymes but I could be wrong. I love cheer powder, it works really well and I really like the scent more what a detergent should smell like IMO. I use cheer often for my colors unless I'm in the mood to switch it up.
