I had not done any trading for several years but have enjoyed it this year, with the exception of having people email me for a trade or for plants for postage, then I reply and never hear from them again. It's frustrating and a total waste of time. I have not had anyone default on a set up trade and don't send plants for postage without getting the postage first. I think the Rate and Review Forum has the potential to be wonderful, but many others like me may not know about it and I would hate for anyone not to trade with me because of a lack of feedback. I'm actually an awesome trader. :)

How many times has anyone emailed back and forth numerous times over say 2 weeks time or more, working out a big ole trade...that just keeps getting bigger and bigger, as you and the trader 'find' or think of more things to offer that the other might be pleased to receive....until the trade is for 10-15 different items? (That to me is a 'big' trade). As I take the time with emails, digging, labeling, and packaging, I feel it is exchange for the many wonderful things the trader is 'supposed' to send me. I feel with the review forum, I will feel more assured about it being a good or maybe even wonderful trade. I have written many reviews (in my spare time when I should have been busy doing something else here at home), but plan to go through what paperwork I have (I found when my computer crashes I loose everything), and give positive reviews on the many members who have traded with me, or even sent me seeds for sasbe or plants for postage. I would like to give some thought to some of the really special ones, and write a bit more, telling why they were outstanding or 'special' trades or things for postage. Not really sure what I will do with those few who were disappointing...maybe nothing...will have to think on that b4 I put my foot in my mouth there. In the meantime, it has been fun writing the reviews...kind of like saying 'Thank You' all over again for wonderful, and appreciated plants and seeds. Sue

Hi Kathy645, YIKES!...There is a major malfunction at Rate and Review, and I see what you are talking about. In doing a search on my name there it says that there are 86 replies with the last one shown (on the search page) having a date of Feb 14, 10. In actually looking at the thread, there are 77 replies with the last reply being made on Jul 29, 09. (like you said...) So is everything since July 09 gone including my post? Or can other people see up to Feb 2010? Is that why a search of my name does not bring up your name as one I have rated? > Well, it looks like there is a window of time that some reviews got dropped (disappeared) from 'some' threads. In looking on back a few pages, and the dates threads were started and replied to, I really don't 'think' entire threads were lost. In checking my 'saved emails' I have an email from you dated 12-12-09, and on 12-13-09 I replied and thanked you for the kind review you had posted......so your review disappeared sometime on or after 12-13-09. In doing a little looking around there at R and R, and counting some replies, I see that there are also replies missing on member disneynut1977, it shows there are 28 replies, yet when counted there are only 26 there. It looks like they are missing sometime between Mar 4, 09 and Mar 16, 10. Member name Jeanne shows there should be 43 replies yet there are only 31 replies probably missing between Jan 22, 09 and Mar 15, 10 Member poppy_power says 46 follow-ups) yet there are only 29..probably missing between May 8, 09 and Mar 15, 10 Member name kmpsmom shows 43 replies yet there are only 40...probably missing between Mar 5, 09 and Mar 11, 10 Member name Liznbeatle shows 17 replies, yet there are only 14 dirt_under_my_nails-(reviews missing )shows last post is Dec 20, 09, yet the last one in the thread is Jul 4, 09 I will contact GW (via the Contact Us link at the bottom of every page) and link to this thread. Hopefully the lost reviews can be found. Hopefully it won't be like finding a needle in a haystack for the tech folks. Sue...loquacious as usual.

The only thing Dave has said that I can disagree with, is that it's 'simple' to find all your posts by typing in your user name in a search. Yes, it does bring up all your posts, but it doesn't bring them up in chronological order. If you've been here for years as many have, you could have many pages of posts to review before you might stumble upon your most recent posts. I gave up on trying to find my posts in that way. I did decide to 'check the box' on each thread I post to, so that it will be sent to my email. That was not easy either. I had to contact support because after repeated efforts to set my account to allow emails, it wasn't changing it. Once I did contact Tamara, they did change it and now I do get emails for the threads I'm following. But, I don't always get them and sometimes they come into my email box days later. lol But, for now, that is working the best so far for trying to keep up with threads I am following. But my email box is now needing a lot more time weeding out. I use the Cornell site to read reviews on different vegetable varieties and like that site. I have however started following others' suggestions that Google/Gardenweb searches turn up better results than GW and have found that works better for me sometimes. I try the search function and if the results are just too random and I find myself *sighing*, I just start a new thread and ask for what I need. edit: I see someone above has said, that sometimes other members 'insist I do a search'. I have rarely had that happen to me, thankfully. My way of looking at it is, that every subject we discuss is a repeat of some earlier discussion. Some of the forums, especially over the winter, are so inactive, that any discussion is a bonus, even a repeat one. If we all did searches and found the answers we needed, we wouldn't need to be discussing live every day. And btw, even if you find posts on the subject you are looking for, they are not always giving you what you want. Sometimes there will be 3 posts on a thread. Or the exact question you wanted to ask was not discussed. Or the person on the forum with the most experience was not on that day. This post was edited by prairiemoon2 on Fri, Jun 27, 14 at 17:07
