The room has a cathedral ceiling and white crown molding. The lighting is interesting because mid day it is very bright due to the arched large window on outer wall. Currently the walls are Duron Cypress Green before adding new chairs etc. (http://www.myperfectcolor.com/en/color/43712_Duron-4915A-Cypress) To me this would work but it is a dated green IMO. The master bathroom connected also with vaulted ceiling currently has a taupey wall paper white tile etc. Also will be updated soon. At night time the Cypress goes almost black except where the lamps are turned on or if overhead fan light is on still very dark at night. The colors in the chair are hard to capture on the computer screen When I look at it the colors that "jump" off are the darker blues and burgundy. I thought Blue would br a safe choice. I also like Jamestown Blue which the ligher blue seems to be.

Think about how you want your new kitchen to feel. Do you like a bright happy kitchen? Do you want a softer feel to your kitchen? The orange terracotta floors and the blue counter tops already provide quite a bit of contrast and color to the space and it sounds as if you need to keep those items in place for a while. For less contrast you could pick a very pale yellow (match the palest yellow from your back splash tile) or pick a warmer white (look for whites with a hint of yellow, brown or red undertones). I think your kitchen floors are lovely!

Your room looks very nice with the curtains removed. I would encourage you to leave it as is in regards to drapes. This is a more contemporary space and there is no need to guild the Lilly! The shutters are enough.
