finishing the room while continuing quest for perfect rug
Comments (5)I love that chair! Since your room is leaning toward contemporary, I'd choose a bedding along those lines. The link below gives you a good example of what I'm talking about. Another option is to keep what you have and fold a blanket/throw of a contrasting color along the foot of the bed. Then add some shams of the same color. For the chair, I'd add a pillow that picks up the same contrasting color. Look at the painting above the chair and pick out one of the colors that you want to add to the room. You could try the rust/coral that I think I see in the artwork, or you could bring in chocolate. I have a question for you: is there a reason your plant is sitting out along the wall? Will it fit in the corner near the window? Also, have you tried angling the chair so the back is toward the corner? If the ottoman is too close to the bed after moving the chair, consider sitting it under the windows with the vase next to it. For the small chair in the corner I'd let it sit on its own......in the corner. I'd remove the little table and lamp. Comments (63)I was thinking that coasts are often chilly and gloomy, and occasionally for some time. It'd be nice to have a room or two that were particularly inviting in those conditions. Some of the pictures already posted show yellow moving toward orange, the bowl, in landscapes of course--on the wall and outside, including sunrises and sunsets. This could relate the kitchen to orangish accents in other rooms, assuming you went orange instead of pink or something else entirely, of course, just using more of it in the kitchen than elsewhere. Or, small amounts of orange in kitchen art and accents could be a bridge to a larger yellow presence in the kitchen. That fridge is a very nice yellow. I had a newer one once and still miss it. Comments (4)If she's got a tiffany box or card, you can have a local big box store color match it. If not, a quick google can get you several colors very close to Tiffany blue. Here's a link to a Sherwin Williams formula for it. Another link to a Valspar look alike. You can find many more. Of course, try samples first. Good luck!...See MoreSiding, roof, shutter colors on orange brick house
Comments (22)Thanks Maureen! I don't intend to paint the brick or porch. If we redo the porch in the future, we'd get a non-red color. As for the mulch, I'm definitely planning dark. Maybe a dark brown, maybe a black. I think cypress might pull too much of the red? Not sure. We also planted a row of tall white daisies all along the front of the porch to help break up the red. We were able to match the grays in person with Mastic Victorian Grey so that is what we have ordered. We will have shake style on the front gable and traditional horizontal siding on the gables on the sides and back. We need to finalize roof and shutter colors. I am about 80% sure we are going with the landmark pro moire black roof. I get what you're saying about the shutters, but there does appear to be discoloration behind them. I'm thinking board and batten style shutters in medium grey. Then I'll be looking into the trim and door painting. Thinking white trim (currently cream) and a bright tealy blue for the door....See MoreAnnie Deighnaugh
