Walmart bare root VanZyverden ferns mislabelled.

They were supposed to be Tennessee Ostrich ferns . I bought against
my better judgment, as I have always wanted tall ferns for the back of my small
woodland bed, to hide a neighbor’s ugly fence.

I should not have been sucked in, as some years back I
bought 2 “different” kinds of bagged ferns, which all turned out to be the same
kind, probably Christmas ferns. Those have no height at all, if anything, the
fronds are prostrate. If a fern can be unattractive, they are.

When I opened the bags to plant them today, all were alive
but the new fronds were too tight to ID. But, on 2 of them there was a dead
frond from last year. I checked in the garden, and bingo: same thing. Christmas
fern. I was thinking about planting the 4 that didn’t have a dead frond, but
decided, why bother? They all looked the same. Why waste the effort? I will be
returning them. As my mom used to say, “Fool me twice, shame on me.”

I saw someone’s thread just this morning talking about
having bought Tennessee Ostrich ferns; and that they called the vendor and were
assured they were. Well, not mine. Bah, humbug.....

Where CAN I buy ostrich ferns, or some tall fern for dry
shade, and not get burned? Thanks
