Cultivating moss on greenhouse roof?

Melissa Smith

Hello,
I have a new greenhouse and about a foot of the sun-facing roof is black roofing paper, at the peak before the windows start. I would like to cultivate moss on that area -- and have been gathering clumps of moss that appears to grow well in fairly sunny areas.

I'm planning to make a moss milkshake and brush it onto the roofing paper but am wondering if anyone has any other techniques or suggestions. I'm worried that the heat generated by the greenhouse and the black color of the roofing paper will thwart growth and I'll just end up with a big messy area.

Thank you for any suggestions.
