I have found that the woodland phlox that is prevalent in my are ( Phlox pilosa) grows from stolen and if I dig just a tiny bit , I will get some root and the will grow very easily and not hurt the colony.

What kind of phlox is it? also , I bring home cuttings of anything that strikes my fancy and put some root hormone on it and stick in some sterile posting mix with some perlite or vermiculite mixed in and then put it in a plastic container. It is amazing what will grow. just try it. maybe it will work. I have never done it with phlox because if I go a little below the cutting, it is so easy to get some roots.

This is the plant I want to spread. I think it is wild or woodland phlox.

Nice. I was just reading in a tutorial about doing cuttings, and they listed phlox as on of the easier plants to root from cuttings.
